On June 10 this year, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov met with representatives of the British Embassy and the British Department of International Development (Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office - FCDO) at the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Ilkhom Norkulov, Deputy Finance Minister Odilbek Isakov, Adviser to the Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Yekaterina Gorbunova and other officials.

The foreign delegation included Director of the Central Asia Department of the UK Department for International Development David Rinnert, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Uzbekistan Timothy Torlot, employee of the British Embassy in the Republic of Uzbekistan Liya Perepadova and Senior Economist of the World Bank for Social Protection, Program Manager EGED William Sites.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the implementation of the program of assistance to Uzbekistan "Effective Governance for Economic Development" (EGED), aimed at supporting economic reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

For reference: The Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, represented by the UK Department for International Development, devoted $ 11 million in grant funds to support economic reforms for 5 years, within the framework of the program of assistance to Uzbekistan "Good Governance for Economic Development" (EGED). The program is implemented in cooperation with experts from the World Bank.

The foreign side expressed its readiness to provide all possible assistance in the implementation of key economic reforms outlined by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Also, representatives of the UK government noted the importance of the Republic of Uzbekistan's implementation of the Strategy for the transition to a "green" economy and expressed readiness to provide technical assistance in the development of a "Roadmap" for the implementation of the Strategy.

In conclusion, an agreement was reached to continue joint work in all priority areas.
