Meeting with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó

On February 9 of this year, a meeting was held with the participation of the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Kudbiev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó.

During the meeting, the sides stressed that reliable and friendly relations between President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán are a key factor in the rise of bilateral relations to the current level, which are developing at an increasingly rapid pace.

In particular, it was noted that the bilateral agreements reached during the high-level visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Hungary in October 2022 and Viktor Orbán's visit to the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand in November raised relations between our countries to a new level.

The Hungarian guest was also informed about administrative reforms in order to implement the tasks set in the Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 on the basis of the principle "In the name of human honor and dignity". Within the framework of which, in order to form a compact system of public administration, simplify decision-making processes, the Ministry of Economy and Finance was created on the basis of 2 leading ministries of the country.

During the meeting, it was noted that work continues on the comprehensive transformation of commercial banks with state participation, the introduction of modern banking standards, information technology and software products, the sale of state-owned stakes in banks on a competitive basis to investors with the necessary experience and knowledge.

In turn, the agreement signed on December 12, 2022 on the sale of Ipoteka-Bank to OTP Group provides for further development of cooperation between the parties and an exchange of views on continuing cooperation in this direction.

For his part, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Péter Szijjártó expressed confidence in the continuation of bilateral cooperation at a high level, recognizing the increased attention paid to further improving the conditions for increasing local and foreign private investment in the economy of our country.
