The dad of an ecstasy death teen has called for convicted drug dealers to face at least 10 years in prison after two year-olds died following a rave in Glasgow last weekend. Stewart Handling believes anyone who supplies drugs with a lethal consequence should face a lengthy period behind bars to deter others. The year-old spoke to the Record after two teenage boys died within hours of each other after attending a rave at SWG3 in the city on Saturday. Stewart, whose year-old daughter Grace died after being given the Class A drugs on her last day of school in , says he hopes tougher sentences will save more lives. Nothing has changed since Grace died except that five years have passed. That should be enough time for them to change and to deter others. The reality is, they were still children who probably got caught up in the moment. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I think all event venues could do more to tackle drug taking. The police also need to make it a priority to catch these dealers. Grace died after taking ecstasy at the home of chef Callum Owens. He went on trial charged with her culpable homicide and admitted giving her the pill which killed her. He then fled the house while she lay unresponsive on his living room floor. But a jury cleared him of killing the schoolgirl after delivering a not proven verdict. I am meeting with Mr Handling next month and will carefully consider his views on the suggestion of a new law in relation to drug dealers.
