The late ’80s and early ’90s were high time for adult-themed content getting worked into children’s films. There was the priest’s boner in the Little Mermaid , the sex dust in the Lion King , and the “good children take off their clothes” from Aladdin .
It was all the rage to subtlely sneak in some sexual content for the kids to see. And we all know that the late ’80s and early ’90s—with Donald Trump on the rise and Taylor Swift sampling Right Said Fred —are back in vogue. So why not bring back those X-rated animated tradition as well?
One mother is certain that in “Once Upon a Slime/The Big Eat,” episode 35 of the animated kid’s show Maya the Bee , available on Netflix , there’s a penis drawn on the side of a wall that Maya buzzes in front of.
The scene was uploaded to Facebook by Chey Robinson, but is no longer available. Thankfully, the dick clip was uploaded to YouTube .
( Update: It was brought to the Daily Dot’s attention that the obscene drawing was originally spotted by Kai Lapeyrouse and posted to Facebook on Sept. 9. Her video is below.)
Robinson, for her part, was furious, saying, “I know I’m not going crazy and I know that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever. I’m extremely disgusted by it, there should be no reason my kids have to see something like this.”
But that’s what we get for reviewing that dark period in our culture. Next thing you know, JNCOs will be making a comeback .

‘Maya the Bee’ Episode Pulled From Netflix After Mom Notices Hidden Penis Drawing!

You have some explaining to do, Netflix. An episode from the popular children’s series Maya the Bee has been pulled from the streaming platform after some concerned parents noticed an explicit image lurking in the background. To be more precise: there was a hidden drawing of an erect penis on a tree in an episode aptly titled “King Willi.”
“I know I’m not going crazy and I know that something like this shouldn’t be in a kids’ show whatsoever. I’m extremely disgusted by it, there should be no reason my kids have to see something like this,” one mom wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post. Another tweeted, “This show is on @netflix its called Maya the Bee this episode is S1E35 around 5:14 mins in they have a #dick on the log wall.” Watch the video below to see the inappropriate drawing.
Studio 110, which produces the cartoon, quickly pulled the episode and responded to the controversy. “An absolutely inappropriate image has been discovered in a four-second fly-by scene in one episode of the total of 78 episodes of the series,” The Hollywood Reporter reported. “The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production.”
The studio has taken responsibility for the oversight and, “is taking all suitable technical measures to remedy the situation.” While we are pretty sure most kids didn’t even notice the NSFW drawing, we definitely understand parents not wanting adult humor sprinkled into their children’s programming. However, this is not the first time a cartoon has been tainted by an animator having a little bit of fun.
For a look at more sexual references in your favorite childhood cartoons, check out the gallery below!
We all knew that Helga had a major crush on Arnold, but we had no idea that his affect on her was so… well, intense.

That's right. Even the goofy Donald Duck isn't immune to the occasional boner when he gets excited. We wonder what he was looking at…

Perhaps these fuzzy little bundles of joy cared at little too much?

Wait a minute — what's that between Peter Pan's legs?! If we only saw his shadow we'd have thought that he was dancing naked.

The Neighbor Lady had quite a reputation for being "overly kind." And interestingly enough, while Dee Dee and Dexter were playing a game, Dee Dee decided that Neighbor Lady's rear end was the perfect place for her to write this particular clue.

Okay fine — we'll admit it's out of context. But still. It seems like Michelangelo was getting real handsy here.

Yeah, back then we didn't get it either. But now it's pretty clear that this kid burned a ton of calories by using that toy replica as a sex doll.

Sure, it's just a pic of Spongebob with underwear on his head… Or is it ? Flip this image upside down and get back to us on that.

Remember that Michael Jordan pic that became everyone's go-to crying meme? Well, think of this as the Pokémon version for literally every oral sex joke (#tonguegamestrong).

Is it just us, or does this look like a still from an animated porn flick? That robot is having way too much fun back there.

Remember Legs? She’s composed of two legs and a fishing rod with a hook… Meaning she’s an actual hooker.

Well, talk about growing up way too fast. Susie looks quite pleased about what she sees.

Bugs Bunny doesn't look too happy about what Daffy Duck is reading! Incase you haven't noticed it, the title "Playduck" is an obvious play on the real-life Playboy magazine, which often features nude women.

Now that a Netflix children’s show has become embroiled in a scandal that would have you confuse it for American Vandal , its producers are speaking out. Following complaints from a concerned parent who noticed a drawing of a penis found its way into an episode of Maya the Bee , Netflix pulled the episode. In a statement , Studio 100 Animation says the “absolutely inappropriate” drawing was the apparent work of an artist gone rogue: “The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production.” The production company now says it is taking legal action as well as “all suitable technical measures to remedy the situation.” They’ve also apologized to all Maya the Bee fans, presumably a bunch of preschoolers who will learn of this “joke” in a few more years and smirk.

The company behind the European cartoon, which screens on Netflix in the U.S., says it has begun legal action after an uproar on social media.
The production firm behind children’s show Maya the Bee , which streams in the U.S. on Netflix , has apologized for an episode of the animated series that included a drawing of a penis in the background.
“An absolutely inappropriate image has been discovered in a four-second fly-by scene in one episode of the total of 78 episodes of the series,” said production group Studio 100 in a statement on Friday. “The origin of this image obviously results from a very bad joke from one of the 150 artists working on the production.”
The image of a crudely-drawn penis was discovered by some U.S. viewers, who took screen shots of the offending scenes and posted them on social media. Netflix, which does not produce the show but licenses it for the U.S., has since pulled the episode of the show with the image in it.
“This is indeed unacceptable to the Studio 100 Group as owner of the brand and all its partners and doesn’t reflect the quality of its work and its values,” the company’s statement continues. “Legal action has already been started. Studio 100 very much regrets this incident and would like to offer its sincere apologies to all Maya the Bee fans. At the same time the company is taking all suitable technical measures to remedy the situation.”
Maya the Bee is a European cartoon based on 1912 children’s book by German writer Waldemar Bonsels . The story of a rebellious young bee named Maya who leaves her hive to discover the beauty and mysteries of nature has been adapted several times for television and film.
