Feminism is the pioneering force behind the first erotic magazine for women in the official trailer for HBO Max's original new comedy series, Minx.
HBO Max's official trailer for Minx shows that feminism is the driving force behind the creation of the first erotic magazine for women. The half hour comedy set in 1970s Los Angeles was announced back in April 2021 and stars Ophelia Lovibond ( Trying ) and Jake Johnson ( New Girl ) . It is one of many highly anticipated shows coming to the HBO's streaming service this year and features several women at the helm, creator Ellen Rapoport ( Desperados ) and director Rachel Lee Goldberg ( Unpregnant ) among them.
HBO Max recently dropped the official trailer and it details Joyce (Lovibond) and Doug (Johnson) forming an unlikely partnership to launch a female-centered magazine in a male-dominated industry. Along for the philosophically raunchy ride is Tina, (Idara Victor from Love Is_ ), who appears to be a pivotal leader under the guise of a secretary and Jessica Lowe's ( The Righteous Gemstones ), Bambi, an underestimated member of the team who challenges Joyce's ideas around feminism. Check out the Minx trailer, below:
Other notable cast members are Oscar Montoya ( Final Space ) playing artistic photographer, Richie, and Transparent 's Amy Landecker as the political figure Bridget Westbury who impedes the group's progressive endeavors. The Minx trailer hints that battling misogyny and political censorship are not the only obstacles the characters will have to contend with, showing glimpses of difficult family dynamics as well as an entanglement with the mob.
It seems like showrunner, Ellen Rapoport, has created a fun-filled and wild series that reflects the ever-changing definition of feminism. Both Joyce and Doug appear to be on opposite - and extreme sides - of the feminist spectrum and will hopefully learn to embrace every facet of the the all-encompassing movement. The first two episodes of Minx will be available on HBO Max starting March 17.

"Am I supposed to look away?" "You'll get used to it…" HBO Max has revealed an official trailer for Minx , a new comedy series executive produced by filmmaker Paul Feig (producer of Spy , Snatched , A Simple Favor , Last Christmas ), and created by writer Ellen Rapoport. Minx is premiering later this month for anyone interested. In 1970s Los Angeles, an earnest young feminist joins forces with a low-rent publisher to create the first erotic magazine for women. There was also a 70s feminist magazine called Ms. , which was the very first national feminist magazine, co-founded by Gloria Steinem. But this series seems to be about the origins of Playgirl , published by a Douglas Lambert, and interestingly Jake Johnson's character in this is named Doug. Ophelia Lovibond also co-stars as Joyce, joined by Idara Victor , Sophia Bui , Trishna , Vera Myers , and Jessica Lowe . This looks like witty, wholesome, erotic magazine fun! Good times in the 1970s.
Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for HBO Max's series Minx , direct from YouTube :
In the 1970s, Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond) is a young feminist from Los Angeles who creates an unlikely bond with editor Doug (Jake Johnson) as they set out to create the first women's erotic magazine. Minx is a series created and written by Ellen Rapoport (a writer on "The Jamie Kennedy Experiment", supervising producer on "Three Moons Over Milford"). Featuring at least one episode directed by filmmaker Rachel Lee Goldenberg , director of the films Valley Girl and Unpregnant previously, and lots of other TV work including "Everything's Gonna Be Okay" most recently. Additional series directors have not been announced yet. A total of 10 30-minute episodes will be available this year as part of the opening series. It's executive produced by Paul Feig, Dan Magnante, Ellen Rapoport, and Rachel Lee Goldenberg. HBO will debut the Minx series streaming on HBO Max starting March 17th, 2022 coming up. Many might gripe that DC has done very little good with its cinematic multiverse, especially as it appears The CW is winding down a lot of its shows, but one shining star has been HBO Max’s Doom Patrol , the wonderfully strange superhero series that has somehow made it to four seasons. We got our first look at season 4 at New York Comic Con this year with a new Doom Patrol trailer .
In case you haven’t quite tuned into the series that truly kickstarted the Brendan Fraser renaissance, the show is really strange as you can probably tell from the butt creatures in the video doing a musical number from The Music Man . That’s actually pretty tame for the series honestly, though the Were-Butts we see here are returning characters. Doom Patrol season 4 will find the team fighting them, obviously, but also traveling to the future and possibly finally deciding if they’re actually going to be heroes or just want to fight for their own happiness. They also seem to be calling themselves by a new name, the Doom Force.
The series is seeing most of its regulars return with Michelle Gomez as Madame Rouge, Fraser as Cliff Steele, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Elasti-woman / Rita Farr, Joivan Wade as Cyborg / Victor Stone, Sky Roberts as Kay Challis, and Matthew Bomer as Negative Man / Larry Trainor. The real question is if everyone will return for a fifth season, as we’re not sure one will be coming. The series launched on DC Universe before its streaming shows were folded into HBO Max, where its third season debuted. It’s had great reviews and a cult following, but under Warner Discovery’s new leadership that means very little. Still, the series hasn’t been canceled yet, so that’s good news.
As the trailer notes, Doom Patrol season 4 will premiere on HBO Max on December 8, with episodes dropping weekly after that.
