A Michigan mom who fell in love with her biological son says a rare “genetic” phenomenon is responsible for their red-hot romance.
Kim West, 57, got pregnant as a teenager, and gave up her baby boy, Ben Ford, for adoption in the mid-1980s.
Ford, who is now 38, tracked down his mother eight years ago, and the pair formed a close bond. Things quickly turned sexual, and they went public with their incestuous relationship in 2016, with West boasting she had “mind-blowing sex” with her son.
The couple has subsequently kept a low profile in a bid to avoid being prosecuted for their illegal sexual relations, but say science is the reason they can’t keep their hands off each other.
“This is not incest, it is GSA. We are like peas in a pod and are meant to be together,” West declared to New Day, speaking about a phenomenon known as “genetic sexual attraction.”
The phenomenon was first identified back in the 1980s by Barbara Gonyo, a woman who ran a Chicago-based support group for adoptees and their newfound relatives. She coined the term “GSA” after noting that numerous people associated with the group became sexually attracted to their family members when they first met as adults.
Psychologist Corinne Sweet previously told New Day that she has come across the phenomenon while treating patients who had been in foster homes.
“At a genetic level, we are conditioned to find people who look like us attractive,” Sweet stated. “We have an almost tribal connection with family members with similar features. At the same time, people who are adopted or fostered feel deeply rejected. They have experienced a profound wound which isn’t easily healed.”
She further explained: “So when a son meets his birth mother, he feels a great rush of need. There’s an attraction and a longing there, and when it’s combined with the appeal of genetic similarity, it becomes a very powerful and complex cocktail which is incredibly seductive.”
However, other medical experts are skeptical of GSA, with New York City sex therapist Ian Kerner telling Women’s Health that the phenomenon has never been scientifically studied.
“I think that our mating systems tend to seek out genetic difference more than similarity,” he declared. “In the case of incest or romantic love between family members, I think you have to look at it case by case instead of generalizing it as a disorder or genetic condition.”
Meanwhile, clinical psychologist John Mayer bluntly told the magazine: “My professional opinion is that GSA is an excuse to give these people permission to break social norms.”
However, West and Ford say GSA adequately explains the instant attraction they felt for one another.
“I know people will say we’re disgusting, that we should be able to control our feelings, but when you’re hit by a love so consuming you are willing to give up everything for it, you have to fight for it,” West told New Day.
The loved-up mama continued: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance and something Ben and I are not willing to walk away from.”
Her equally shameless son stated: “When I met Kim, I couldn’t think of her as my mom but instead as a sexual being. I had seen a therapist at an adoption support group and had learned about the GSA phenomenon.”
Making their relationship more shocking was the fact that Ford was married at the time they met. The smitten son soon dumped his wife in order to be in a relationship with his mom.
Ford told New Day that he couldn’t get his mother off his mind, saying to his spouse: “Every time I have had sex with you since I met her, I imagine it’s her I am kissing, otherwise I can’t perform.”
Meanwhile, West said it felt as if she and her son had “known each other for years” after they met as adults, describing their sex as “incredible” and “mind-blowing.”
But the couple should be careful about bragging about their hot sex, as incestuous relationships between adults are punishable by up to 15 years in prison in their home state of Michigan.
Anyone found guilty of such an offense would be required to sign the sex offenders registry for life.

On the first Monday in June, Kristjana Hillberg dropped her 10-year-old off at circus camp, her 4-year-old at Montessori day camp and her 2 year-old at day care. Then she headed straight to the sex shop for toys and supplies “to spice things up.”
The 32-year-old media manager had big plans: She’d taken the day off from work and intended to stay off email and on her husband, Kurt.
“He messaged me and was like, ‘Let’s stay in bed and f–k all day,’ ” Hillberg, an Arizona native now living in South Dakota, told The Post. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, yes. I can’t wait to be close together and not worry about making too much noise. It will be a day full of rejuvenation.’ ”
It was the first time the couple had the house to themselves since the start of the pandemic, and they took full advantage. They made a beeline for the bedroom, drew the curtains and made up for lost time.
“Sometimes when the kids don’t go to bed until 9 p.m., you’re tired, and you don’t have the stamina [to be intimate],” Hillberg said.
After years of child care limited by the pandemic, camp is in session and full-time nannies are back on the payroll this summer. Parents are cutting loose, indulging in sex , drugs and big nights out while their offspring braid lanyards and canoe.
“We’ve had some couples that come in asking for lap dances, and they’ll tell me, ‘Listen, our kids are with the babysitter,’ or ‘They’re away at camp, and we’re just here to have a good time.’ They work full-time, they have a little break for the summer, and they’re coming out to party,” Katie Paul, the general manager at Wonderland , an adult entertainment club in the Flatiron District, told The Post. “We didn’t see that pre-pandemic as much.”
Nidah Barber-Raymond, 48, an aesthetician who owns the Peel Connection in New York and Beverly Hills, California, has also been using the summer season to heat up her marriage.
Last month, while her 4- and 8-year-olds were at day camp, she and her husband met up at the Beverly Hills Hotel one afternoon for some roleplay around the pool.
“I told him to meet me at the pool lounge, and we just pretended we were strangers who met for the first time,” said Barber-Raymond. Later on, they had other parents to their private cabana for a day party celebrating not just their child-free status but also their fifth anniversary.
“We said, ‘Leave your kids with the nanny and come party poolside,’ ” she said.
Other moms are leaving the husbands at home and getting frisky with their friends. Jess, 40, a mother of four kids between the ages of 2 and 10, left the suburbs earlier this week for a girls night out at Midtown nightclub Nebula. While her little ones slept off a day of sailing, tennis and swimming at their Westchester country-club camp, Jess and her friends were engaging in a dance battle to Shaggy’s “It Wasn’t Me” with a group of Gen Zers who didn’t know the lyrics.
“We were literally like 22-year-olds on the dance floor,” Jess, a former assistant principal, told The Post, declining to give her last name for professional reasons.
“We’ve been mom-ing the hell out of the last two years and said, ‘We’re finally free,’ ” Jess said. “We paid our dues. We did the whole pandemic thing. I home-schooled the kids. Now, the camps are open, my nannies are back full-time, and I’m like, ‘F–k it, we’re out.’ ”
She dusted off an old pair of Jimmy Choos for the night, put on a short dress and told her husband not to wait up.
“Now, no one is depending on my boobs except me and my great outfit,” she said. “I would have been up on that banquette if I didn’t have my last baby 18 months ago.”
She and her friends stayed out until 4 a.m dancing and doing tequila shots. It was a blast, although she felt it the next day.
“I’m not going to lie. My knees hurt from wearing my 6-inch Jimmys that I haven’t worn in 10 years. It was 100% worth it,” she said. “We took no pictures. We tried to pretend it was 20 years ago — no Boomerangs, no Reels, no evidence.”
Meanwhile, Chloé Jo Davis, a mom of three sons under age 12 and founder of the lifestyle website GirlieGirlArmy.com , is staying connected while cutting loose. Her boys are away at a seven-week sleep-away camp — #bliss — and she has taken to sipping a margarita while logging on to Campanion, a mobile app that lets her see kids ziplining at their camp in Beach Lake, Pennsylvania. Friends who frequent her pool party have been known to spark up the occasional joint or vape. It’s a pleasure that she said she has earned.
“You work so hard helping with schoolwork for 10 months, so you can live your best life for two,” she said.

A British mother says she’s passionately in love with the son she gave up for adoption 32 years ago.
In a story published by UK daily newspaper The New Day , 51-year-old Kim West describes sex with her son Ben Ford as  “mind-blowing” and “incredible” — but insists their relationship isn’t incestual.
Instead, she says, she and her son are affected by a condition known as “ Genetic Sexual Attraction ,” whereby separated biological family members find themselves attracted to each other when they meet as adults.
According to The New Day , Kim fell pregnant while studying in California as a 19-year-old.
She gave baby Ben up for adoption soon after the birth, and he grew up in the US while Ms West returned to the her native UK.
Then in December 2013, computer coder Ford -- by this stage married and based in Michigan -- decided to locate his biological mother.
He reached out to Kim, and the pair started to exchange letters and phone calls. Eventually, in 2014, Ben decided to visit.
The sexual chemistry was almost instantaneous, Ms West tells The New Day . She says she invited Ben to a hotel room, where the pair pair shared champagne -- and their first kiss.
Soon after that they had sex, and just three days after that Mr Ford told his wife of two years he was leaving her.
Now, interior designer Ms West and her son have plans to marry and have a child together, although they say they'll use surrogacy if unable to conceive naturally.
Although incest is illegal in Michigan, where the couple currently lives, the pair say they are willing to move state to tie the knot.
'This is not incest, it is GSA. We are like peas in a pod and are meant to be together," Ms West told The New Day .
'I know people will say we're disgusting, that we should be able to control our feelings, but when you're hit by a love so consuming you are willing to give up everything for it, you have to fight for it.'
The unusual romance is not the first instance of genetic sexual attraction we've heard.
In December last year, Mamamia republished a Role/Reboot piece in which a writer with the pen name Lynn Beisner recalled falling in love with her own father.
"Like other people who have experienced GSA, I can only say that what came over me seemed irresistible," Ms Beisner wrote.
And in January 2015, an 18-year-old woman revealed the details of her relationship with her father in New York Magazine ’s "The Science of Us" section.
"We discussed whether it was wrong and then we kissed," the young woman recalled in the interview. "And then we made out, and then we made love for the first time. That was when I lost my virginity."
Back in 2014, Mamamia also reported on a Brazilian couple with a six-year-old daughter, who discovered as adults that they had the same biological mother. That shock discovery was only made when the woman, who had been adopted out as a child, sought her birth mother and discovered it was the same woman who'd borne her husband.

Genetic Sexual Attraction is. (Post continues after video.)
While stories like this might surprise or even disgust you, there may actually be a scientific or sociological basis for sexual attraction between siblings who were separated at a young age.
As a 2011 University of Illinois study published in the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin found, people appear to be drawn to others who resemble their kin or themselves — with those findings leading psychologist RC Fraley to speculate: “It is possible [that] as Freud suggested, incest taboos exist to counter this primitive tendency.”
The Guardian reports that , while  the frequency of cases GSA cases is difficult to quantify, some post-adoption agencies estimate that elements of GSA occur in a shocking 50% of reunions.
As Gonyo argues in her book I’m his Mother but he’s not my Son, sexual attraction between siblings may be a byproduct of “missed bonding” that would have normally taken place between family members had they not been separated. GSA may also be explained by the “Westermarck” affect — named after sociologist Edward Westermarck — which holds that people living in close domestic pro
