Honestly, you could just watch any of the Zapp Brannigan episodes of Futurama instead.
Swedish studio Toadman Interactive have announced Minimal Affect (opens in new tab) , a cover-shooter space RPG that, yes, is intended to be a parody of Mass Effect. "But wasn't Andromeda already a parody of Mass Effect?" I hear you typing in the comments. Ha ha. Well done.
Minimal Affect is set aboard the Star Alliance ship Balding Eagle, where a crew of humans and aliens under the command of a man with a strong jawline and a head injury set out to save the galaxy and presumably crouch behind a lot of waist-high walls. The cast include a blue lady, a bug man, a Redshirt like off of that Star Trek, and literally just a krogan. They're all included in the trailer above, although someone seems to have left out the jokes.
"Minimal Affect is our homage to some of the greatest sci-fi RPGs, movies, and shows that we absolutely love," says creative director Rasmus Davidsson in a press release. "While the story is ridiculous, the gameplay certainly is not - this is a fully fledged action-RPG created in the art-style of adult animation you know and love. It’s a super galactic tale of space adventure, comedy, and questionable morality."
Minimal Affect will be out in 2021, at which point it will be roughly seven years too late to feel at all relevant.

There was some uncertainty at first, but the next Nintendo Direct is taking place this week after all, albeit not as a livestream.
A reader is overflowing with praise for Valve’s Steam Deck, as he details all the many games and features he now has access to on the move.
The Monday letters page really hopes that Crystal Dynamics will bring back Legacy Of Kain, as one reader makes his own Elden Ring DLC.
Rumours of Ubisoft being about to announce five new Assassin’s Creed games have been proven false… it’s actually six.
A reader is frustrated that publishers are obsessed with making video games bigger and longer and wishes they could be shorter and cheaper.
While it continues to be only a modest success over here, Splatoon 3 is doing phenomenally well in Japan and shattering all records.
Social media teasers have confirmed the next Fortnite season is called Paradise, and they point to it being another Halloween themed season.

There’s still no sign of a new Mass Effect, so perhaps a parody in the style of Rick and Morty will do until one finally shows up?
Video games don’t have much of a track record when it comes to comedy. There’s Monkey Island and Portal and… after that the list of consistently funny games begins to dry up very quickly.
A lot of games have funny lines in them but the number of straight comedies is extremely small, and this trailer for Minimal Affect suggests that’s probably a good thing.
It’s, obviously, meant to be a parody of Mass Effect and sci-fi in general, but if you can spot an actual joke in the trailer then you’re doing better than us.
The developer is Swedish studio Toadman Interactive, so there’s a good chance something has been lost in translation, but it does all seem a terrible waste of some really good cartoon graphics, that look like a cross between Family Guy and Rick and Morty.
The gameplay at the end looks pretty good too, even if it is just a blatant copy of Mass Effect’s third person combat.
There’s something about the Mass Effect games that seem to inspire low rent knock-offs though and at least this looks better than creepy porn game Subverse , which somehow managed to get $2 million in Kickstarter pledges (and yet still isn’t anywhere near finished).
Minimal Affect will be released on ‘most major consoles and Windows PC’, which probably means it’s aiming for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as well.
