Maskie Privacy Policy
Maskie SupportLast updated: June 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Maskie handles information when you use the app to select photos, detect faces, apply emoji masks, save images, share edited images, use subscriptions, or contact support.
1. Face Data and On-Device Processing
When a user selects or captures a photo, Maskie processes the image on the user's device to detect the presence and location of faces. The face data processed by Maskie consists only of temporary face detection outputs such as face bounding boxes, approximate facial landmarks or geometry, face count, and coordinates used to place emoji masks. Maskie does not collect facial recognition templates, Face ID data, biometric identifiers, faceprints, names, or identities.
2. Use of Face Data
Maskie uses face data only to place emoji masks over faces, let users adjust those masks, and create the edited image that the user chooses to save or share. Face data is not used to identify a person, authenticate a user, track a user, train models, advertise, or build user profiles.
3. Sharing and Storage
Face data is processed locally on the user's device. Maskie does not upload user photos or face detection results to our servers. Face data is not shared with third parties. The app uses on-device face detection technology locally; Maskie does not transmit face images or face detection results to Google, Apple, or any other third party.
4. Retention
Face detection results are temporary. They are kept only in memory during the current editing session and may be held in a short-lived in-memory cache during the app session to avoid repeated detection. They are cleared when the app is closed, restarted, or when the cache is evicted. Maskie does not persist face data on its servers. If the user saves or shares an edited image, that output is stored only in the user's Photos library or handled by the destination app or service chosen by the user.
5. Photo Permissions
Photo access is used to show recent photos and to save edited images only when the user chooses to save. Users can change photo permissions in system settings at any time.
6. Sharing and Saved Output
When the user uses share or save, the generated image is created locally from the current edit. Any image the user shares is handled by the destination app or service chosen by the user.
7. Purchases and Support
Subscription status is used only to unlock app features such as hiding product marks. Store purchases are processed by Apple. If a user contacts support, we use the email address only to respond to the request.
