A former Playboy model killed herself and her 7-year-old son after jumping from a hotel in Midtown New York City on Friday morning.
The New York Post reports that 47-year-old Stephanie Adams jumped from the Gotham Hotel penthouse at 8:15 a.m. with her son, Vincent, amid an ongoing custody battle with her ex.
The mother-son pair was staying on the 25th floor of the hotel in a penthouse suite and were found on a second-floor courtyard landing, NYPD chief William Aubrey said during a press conference on Friday.
"Early this morning investigators located an individual whose attention was drawn to that same second-floor area when he heard two loud noises," Aubrey revealed, The Post reports. "His attention was drawn to that and he discovered these two deceased individuals."
Adams was reportedly engaged in a fierce dispute with estranged husband Charles Nicolai, a chiropractor who owns Wall Street Chiropractic & Wellness.
Sources close to the couple said that things were so contentious between the former couple that they would meet at the First Precinct in Tribeca to hand over their son, ensuring that "no violence [took] place" during their meet-ups.
Nicolai's lawyer had recently told Adams that she needed to hand over Vincent's passport.

Back in 2016, Adams celebrated 24 years as a Playboy centerfold after first appearing at Miss November back in 1992. The Post reports that she came out as the magazine's first lesbian centerfold in 2003, despite later marrying a male investment banker and Nicolai.
Adams won $1.2 million after successfully suing the NYPD for a 2006 incident during which she was reportedly assaulted by a police officer who claimed that she had pulled a gun on him.

[on defining herself as an artist] Defining oneself is incredibly hard. I think when it comes to art the best way to describe myself is "explorer". I love creating and while acting is my main focus I dabble in singing, writing, painting and a bunch of other arts. Its therapeutic, its satisfying and it helps me personally to cope with every life challenge thrown my way. As a person I am very passionate committed and determined.

For me, a romantic evening could be anything. It could involve a candlelit dinner and flowers, or a picnic on the beach.

When someone is intelligent, that's a big turn-on for me. When you love something and know a lot about it, when you talk about it and your face lights up -- I love that. If it happens to be something I'm interested in too, all the better.

[on her training] I have a bachelors degree in acting from Kiev National University of Culture and Arts as well as masters degree, you guessed it, in acting from New York Film Academy. I was fortunate to receive an amazing training from a lot of great teachers and artists in three cities around the world: Kiev, New York and Los Angeles. I feel that it definitely shaped who I am both as a person and as an actress.

[on her artistic influences] As an actress I admire Meryl Streep. I hope one day I will reach her level of excellence in acting craft. She is probably one of the greatest actresses of all times and she works hard on every role she gets. Along with her I admire and learn from Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore, Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren and many others.

[on passing her free time] If I have a lot of free time I love to read, paint and write, get people together and create short films and other projects. When Im generally very busy I do have to use every opportunity to Netflix and chill though.

I am currently fluent in three languages: Russian, Ukrainian and English. I think its incredibly important to learn other languages and I believe that nothing will develop your creativity as learning them. Every language has its own structure and history it forces you to think differently. So I am planning to learn more of them. Currently Im slowly working on Italian but some day I would love to also learn Spanish, French and German at the least.

I cherish every experience and every project I have worked on. I have been lucky so far to have loved each and every set I was on.

I'm very ambitious and am not afraid of hard work, but as an actress I am also extremely emotional and sensitive. Weird mix to put it mildly!

[on acting technique] There are hundreds of different acting techniques out there and I've learned quite a few of them in 6 years of my acting education. I think the most helpful ones for me personally are Meisner, Stanislavsky and Chekhov. However acting is a very personal art. There is no right or wrong and things that work for one person might not do the trick for another.

[From 2017 Alpi Fashion Magazine interview]I believe that a good actor should never stop learning and eventually compile their own "method" of all the little tricks and tools that work specifically for him. I use elements of multiple different techniques depending on whats asked of me. But the biggest part of my work is done in preparation and role analysis - way before I arrive on set.

I think ecology and animal welfare is something everybody should be concerned about. We all live on the same planet and depend on it for our survival. Seeing how much damage humanity causes to Earth and all the animals pains and concerns me. I personally donate to multiple organizations that are working towards cleaning up this mess. If the planet is hurt so are we. Thats why its incredibly important to take care of it and develop green energy and clean lifestyle.

[on her biggest accomplishments ] Moving to Hollywood for a girl from a small town in the middle of Ukraine with no money or connections, only having a dream and hope is quite an accomplishment if you ask me.

Emily Ratajkowski has never been one to shy away from showing a little skin. And in one of her recent Instagram posts, the model turned actress turned swimwear designer is stripping down in an effort to promote her new line.
The brunette beauty spent the Thanksgiving holiday at the beach, and left little to the imagination in a variety of barely-there bikini photos and short videos . But what we can all really be thankful for is this seductive snap, which was shared to both Emily's page and on the new Inamorata Swimwear Instagram account:
Emily's debut swimwear collection has been in the news since its debut last week , most notably now, as the designer faces backlash for allegedly copying Lisa Marie Fernandez' designs. According to an article on People.com , a cease-and-desist letter was sent to Inamorata, which alleges that two pieces from the six-piece collection appear to be a copy of Lisa Marie Fernandez' swimwear.
"Although in the United States there is no copyright protection for physically functional items (including clothing), since Inamorata ships internationally, Fernandez was able to invoke two European Union Community Design Registration certificates that she filed in 2015, which allows her to supply, import, export or deal products incorporating the designs within the European Union until 2020," the article explains. "Fernandez has given the brand until November 22nd to respond to the letter before initiating any legal proceedings."
