Today, Marc Mero contributes much of his time to the nonprofit organization he founded in 2007, Champion of Choices, empowering youth to make positive choices. In 1990, Marc Mero decided to become a wrestler, traveling to Tampa, Florida to train under the famous Malenko wrestling family.
The following year Mero was signed by WCW and debuted the character “Johnny B. Badd” at the SuperBrawl pay-per-view on 19 May, 1991.
He would go on to win the WCW World Television Championship on three occasions between 1994-96, defeating Lord Steven Regal, Diamond Dallas Page and Lex Luger.
Mero left WCW and signed a contract with the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) in 1996, debuting at WrestleMania XII on 31 March, 1996.
Within six months he won a tournament for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, defeating “Stone Cold” Steve Ausin, Owen Hart and Farooq in the process.
Marc has fought the likes of Steve Austin, HHH, Edge and Diamond Dallas Page on pay-per-view events.
Marc dreamed big and set lofty goals. After success in high school with hockey, football, and boxing and then a 14-year career as a professional wrestler, injuries and bad choices led to his retirement in 2006. and then lost it all to bad choices.
This has led to make a greater impact upon the lives of others, transitioning from sports entertainment to discovering his true passion as an Inspirational Speaker.
Marc’s inspirational videos have been seen by millions, and his influence both online and on stage is worldwide. Audiences are inspired to find joy as they cherish every moment, value relationships, dream big and commit to making a positive difference in their personal life, family, schools, career, and community.
