In every anime or manga, there’s always those couples that makes us have love-hate relationship with. It’s those kind of fandoms that can seem a bit toxic but at the same time heartwarming when explained. Here’s the top 10 couples of anime and manga that we all have a love-hate relationship with. WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS MAY BE IN THIS CONTENT.
The one thing I notice in this anime, Naruto, that didn’t make sense is the matchmaking done by the animators and developers of Naruto. This is 1 out of 2 that made no sense. The animators made it out that Hinata “always was there for Naruto” when reality she was hiding behind rocks and such. She did very little to help Naruto and many fans feel like this couple was forced. Here’s some quotes from some fans on https://www.thetoptens.com/worst-anime-couples/:

It’s very clear that these fans have noticed that Sakura should have been with Naruto but instead, the creators of Naruto made Hinata and Naruto “cannon”. Even though many fans are displeased, it doesn’t stop them from making stories to make the anime more realistic. Artists, more realism please!
Sword Art Online is another one of the few animes that has forced a couple together as well. I have watched it and I’ve noticed how much chemistry they have which is none. The only reason they are a couple is because they work together as a team to fight their way back to the real world. Plus, they don’t wind up together in the end. Here’s some quotes from fans:

This shows that this couple were forced by yet again the creators. What if one of them is a teenager and the other is a full-on adult? For 2 people who don’t know each other’s age, that is messed up considering how much time they spent together in the anime. No pedophilia, thank you!
This is basically another incest couple of a anime. What makes this cannon couple bad is they are both brother and sister. It shouldn’t matter if they’re vampires or not. Incest is never okay even in real life. Here’s what a fan had to say:

Yuki is one of the dumbest female leads, I was actually told that the story was supposed to revolve around Zero and Kaname development into better people but Yuki just makes them look like fools. Though I agree that Yuki isn’t the brightest, fans have forgotten that Zero and Yuki had a actual connection even after she turned back to her vampire self and furthermore, her vampire self is more aware of the connection she had with Zero rather than Kaname.
Even if he is her brother, it should be obvious that he should say just straight “no” and tell her that she is needed elsewhere. A dimwit like her would even understand that. Zero was better for you, Yuki! WHY?! Sorry, I’m a bit of a ZeYu shipper.
This cannon couple is the few of the abusive relationships one out there. Not only was Lucy in Season 1 of Fairy Tail kept slapping Natsu multiple times, she also treats his partner in magic, Happy the flying cat, the same way. Also, she was harsh to both of them in that exact season.
Not only I have noticed this in the anime, fans have as well. Here’s what they got to say:
Why is this so low? This is one of the pairs where you just feel sorry for the male party. Seriously you could replace Lucy with a randomly picked younger character, excluding people like Macao or Gildarts, from every guild or even with a concrete BRICK and it would be a vast improvement.
Lucy can stay alone for all I care, Natsu you deserve better!

Lucy always gets upset at Natsu for things that she should either accept if she were to love him or things that are beyond his control, like the disbandment of Fairy Tail. Love includes accepting someone for everything he or she is and NOT complaining about those habits and it also includes brushing off your own problems, or what you think are problems in Lucy’s case, to help this person…heck this is a basic principle of friendship.
I admit that Lucy has her moments, but after this she boasts her rep of being selfish again and this is not the kind of girl that should stand at Natsu’s side”

Even though I do agree with Theoddone, it somehow became cannon even when there’s evidence that Lucy never thought of Natsu as a love interest as said by herself, the character, in the OVA. Sadly, the artist Mashima had this thought: “Personally, I think Lisanna is a nice girl, and it would be a shame to see her with a guy like Natsu. I feel that the Natsu and Lucy ship is more suitable.” Though people do argue with this statement, it got people watching it just to see when the NaLu ship would end the line but, that never happened in their favor. Apparently, abuse is acceptable…
This couple became cannon at Season 2. Though they both developed in character and went to the same high school, she didn’t realize the powers she had until around the end of Season 1 which makes her look a bit dumb. Although she is still learning as well as Ichigo, he learned quicker than Orihime did when training with the shop owner’s cat, Yoruichi.

“LOL! I’ve always said that IchiHime is garbage, but now we have undeniable proof.
In a recent interview with Shonen Jump, they confirmed that they’re making a spinoff novel that’s about Renji and Rukia’s honeymoon (basically pandering to shippers and trying to justify the ship being canon) and Hisagi’s Bankai (pretty cool). This isn’t the problem however.
In the interview, they straight up said that Rukia isn’t the heroin of Bleach, but that Orihime is. They are literally trying to downplay Rukia’s significance in the series in order to justify this pairing being canon.

“ I never really read the manga so I don’t know how things work there but I’ve watched the anime and by pretty much episode 1 I had a fondness for IchiRuki but by episode 2 I had a feeling Ichigo would end up with Orihime because well… authors don’t usually introduce a new female character by making her walk into a guy and start blushing and crushing on him HARD unless they have a reason to. At that point I shipped both IchiRuki and IchiHime (weird, I know, shipping two mortal-rival ships but I still did) so I just wanted to see how the series developed both these relationships and didn’t really care who ended up with who. Until I watched some more and did some character research did I start going against this ship. I’m a slight feminist and I’ve always liked strong, independent female characters more and when they pretty much ruined Orihime’s character development by making her life revolve around Ichigo and her obsession/hero-worship of him and how she is pretty much useless. I immediately threw IchiHime out the window but when I decided to spoil my Bleach experience by reading the final chapter of the manga, boy was I shocked. I would have been glad if neither IchiRuki nor IchiHime became canon because the former has a pretty fantastic platonic relationship that I won’t mind staying that way while the latter is well… fantastically horrible. But NO, IchiHime is now canon, I legit reread the chapter three times to see if I had misread/misinterpreted something. Again my answer is in the negative and to this day it still unfortunately is. I would have shipped IchiHime if the creators had just developed Orihime better, made her a character that lives not only for the sake of her significant other but for herself too, that not only becomes a useful asset only when her beloved is harmed but protects him instead of just give up and cry. But most of all I just wanted Ichigo to acknowledge and respect her because is it just me or did Ichigo basically didn’t bat an eye/notice her existence or appreciated her throughout the entire series. I don’t how the creators did it but congrats! You’ve successfully created one of the most one sided ships in all of history and still made it canon. God knows, that isn’t how ships work BUT they still did it.”
Even if it is a terrible ship. the couple became cannon anyways. This is kind of infuriating to see a new female character pop out of nowhere and just be picked instead of the one who actually truly took the time and did sacrifices for the other party. Well, it is too late not because the series stopped at March 27, 2012. Please, another season where Ichigo gets a less dimwitted girl would be nice.
This is the few couples that came out of the torments of Hell. Not only Yuno is a yandere, but also Yukiteru only keeps her to keep him safe from harm. In other words for example if he does a crime and the police find out, Yuno would be the one to take the bullet for it and Yukiteru would be running for his life while Yuno is getting shot at.
If that seems a bit far fetched, here’s what some fans got to say:

This shows that the couple is as unstable as a airplane made with plastic parts. Then again, that’s usually how it goes with any yandere in a relationship. It is full of manipulation, jealousy, lust, and dark intentions. Then again if he didn’t at least had a bit of care or love for her, why does he keep coming back? Think about that for a second.
This couple is one of the other psycho couples in the anime/manga world. Not only did Light used Misa multiple times to do his dirty work for him, but also Misa would do it no matter what the cost was. He legitimately kissed her so, she would do whatever he wanted her to. Did someone call a warning for MANIPULATION?

“ Yeah, these two weren’t made for each other. She loves him because she believes in ‘love at first sight’ basically. Nobody nowadays falls in love at first sight. If they do, it’s probably for comedic reasons and not true romance. She literally said she wants him to use her and he’s completely fine with that because he can use to her to his advantage to murder his enemies. The only reason she stuck around him was he pretended they were dating. However, he never liked her and in his mind he clearly said: This is the first time in my life that I’ve been provoked to hit a woman. Also, he went along with it because he was threatened to do it by a shinigami. These two have zero chemistry and are a terrible couple. — RoseRedFlower”
“ Light didn’t even like Misa he was just using her because of the shinigami eyes. If Misa hadn’t been so blinded maybe she would have been able to see that. The whole Light x Misa thing was just to show how much the death note corrupted them both and how dumb Misa was”
It is agreeable that Misa is a dumb blonde and that Light used her because he knew this fact but at the end of the series, he writes to Ryuk to have her get rid of the Death Note deal. He even said in the anime that he believes that she deserves a better life. Maybe after awhile of living with Misa, he started to care about her. We may never know until we all read between the lines.
In the manga, they maybe the same age but in the anime, Usagi aka Sailor Moon is a teenager while Mamoru aka Tuxedo Mask is a college student. If this doesn’t spell out another pedophile in the mix, I don’t know what does. Pedophilia which is a crime is never okay.

“Okay, so I loved this couple but not in the 90s version because the 90s version has Mamoru as an adult when they meet when in the Manga and remake of the anime Sailor Moon Crystal was them as their right full ages, and they are just so cute. Their happy and sad moments in the Manga just made me happy, or I would be crying at the sad moments. So 90s version is pedophilia while the manga and Crystal is just too adorable!”
“ Mamoru is such an ass and doesn’t deserve Usagi. Before they were dating Mamoru said that Usagi wasn’t pretty or had not any inner beauty. He even broke up with Usagi because of a bad dream.”
This couple in the first season of Sailor Moon comes to show that the 90’s version doesn’t do them justice as a ship. Yet somehow after years of that nonsense, it got fixed by the animators of Sailor Moon Crystal. Yet again, pedophilia is a no no.
This young love is another example of incest. Do you want to know why? Oh, it’s because they are cousins of course. Even though it is normal back in the Victorian times to marry a noble, there could’ve been a better young lady for young Ciel. Also, he’s a bit young to think about marriage even if he is more mature than his lover/cousin.
