It should come as no surprise that the world of adult entertainment, both film and performance, is a popular and lucrative one. The most successful workers in the industry, accordingly, enjoy both fame and a large salary for their work. However, it seems that in the world of adult entertainment, filmmakers tend to overlook female audience in favour of the male, as the male population is typically understood to be the primary consumer of adult entertainment.
In September 2014, adult entertainment site P*rnHub compiled user data into a report entitled 'What Women Want', which brought female consumers of adult entertainment and their varying tastes to the fore. The study focused on the most-searched keywords by women on the popular adult entertainment website, as well as the categories they tended to view more than men. When it came to a list of the top most-searched adult entertainment stars, the difference between men and women was evident; although the top three on each list proved the same for both genders, if in different orders, women included actors and actresses totally overlooked by men — an example being James Deen, who is over 500% more likely to be searched for by women than by men. It's worth noting that women's number one key-word search on adult entertainment sites, according to the same study, was 'lesbian', and indeed many female stars feature among women's top 10 favourite adult actors...
So, who are women's preferred naughty stars? The following are the girls' top ten.
At number ten is Brandi Love, born as far less glamorous sounding Tracey Lynne Potoski. She grew up in North Carolina and was very sporty as a child and teenager, taking up dancing aged three, ice skating aged four, and playing numerous sports including tennis and soccer.
Before entering the world of adult entertainment in 2004, Love owned her own custom wine company, and has continued to show her entrepreneurial skills in the adult entertainment world by founding the site parentsinadult.com, the world's only enterprise dedicated to parents who work in the adult industry.
Japanese star Asa Akira is at number nine. Born and brought up in Tokyo, Akira started at Washington Irving High School in New York City 2001 and graduated from school in 2004. She began working in the adult entertainment industry two years later, aged eighteen.
Akira has featured in over three hundred adult films, and is one of the richest women in the business in America, with a net worth of $1.5 million. Akira prides herself on loving her job and being a feminist in the industry, and is quick to point out that such work isn't taboo or the sign of something gone wrong; she frequently mentions her entirely normal upbringing preceding her entry into the field.
The first male entry of the list is Mandingo, at number eight. He is an incredibly prolific actor in the adult entertainment industry, with over five hundred film credits to his name. Born Frederick Lamont in Mississippi, Mandingo chose his industry name as a result of a nickname he was given in college. His first performance in an adult entertainment film was in 1999, and since then he has gone from strength to strength, even launching his own series, "Mandingo", in 2002.
At number six is Farrah Abraham , who is a reality star, author, and aspiring model and musician. Nebraska-born Abraham shot to fame in MTV reality show 16 & Pregnant , and also featured in the first series of MTV's Teen Mom . While six months pregnant, her baby's father was killed in a car accident, which brought a lot more public focus to Abraham and her life. In 2012 Abraham released a book entitled My Teenage Dream Ended , which featured on the New York Times bestsellers list.
She began to dabble a little in the adult entertainment industry, and in 2013 she made an adult tape with James Deen, a famous actor in the adult entertainment industry. She has since launched her own (ahem) self-modelled sex toy.
Born as Bryan Matthew Sevilla in California, huge star of the adult entertainment industry James Deen is at number five. Deen was first referred to by his stage name at the age of twelve, due to the way he smoked (of course, the change in spelling is in order to avoid legal implications). Since his teenage years, he says, he was an exhibitionist, often having sex in public at parties and raves, which he credits with helping him perform in front of the camera.
He decided to try to find work in the adult entertainment industry at the age of seventeen, and was cast in his first feature film in 2004. Another petite woman but enormous star of the adult entertainment world is 4'11" Madison Ivy , at number four. Born in Germany as Clorisa Briggs and raised in Texas, Ivy's first foray into working life began in California, where she was a waitress and bowling alley mechanic.
She first got into the world of adult entertainment in dancing at a strip club, where she met Aurora Snow, a big hit in the industry who helped Ivy with her contacts. She first appeared in adult entertainment films in 2007 when she was eighteen years old. Ivy also works as a personal trainer and yoga instructor.
At number three is Lisa Ann , who has been dubbed one of the most powerful figures in the adult entertainment industry by Fox News. Older than your typical industry actor or actress, at forty-two Lisa Ann — born Lisa Anne Corpora — is still a smash hit with both men and women. In fact, Lisa Ann attributes some of her popularity to the appeal of her age, given that a lot of the viewers of her films are college-age boys.
She first came onto the adult entertainment scene in 1993, her passion for the business ignited by working as an exotic dancer a few years previously. She quit the business for a brief time in 1997 due to a health scare, before returning first as an agent and then as a performer. She is perhaps most famous for her 2008 onscreen portrayal of Sarah Palin in an adult movie, and owns talent company Lisa Ann's Talent Management.
This is the third case on our list of reality TV and adult entertainment meeting in an explosive combination that proves popular among women number. It is, of course, the queen of the small screen, Kim Kardashian .
Now hugely famous thanks to reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians and her high-profile marriage to Kanye West, Kardashian's first exposition to fame came about as a result of a 'leaked' adult tape. The tape, made with her boyfriend of the time time, Ray J, was made in 2003 but was not made public until 2007.

That´s the phrase that kept running through my head as I surfed through Jamie´s website International Introductions a couple of months before my trip. There were so many gorgeous Latin women. How could one choose? The ladies who mentioned a preference for white men were easy to eliminate, but there were so many more! So I did what most other men probably do. I chose the women that were the most physically attractive to me. I took Grandma´s advice and aimed high. Don´t get me wrong I thoroughly read through each lady´s answers to the profile questions; but only to go through another process of elimination. I mean seriously how much can you find out about someone by asking them 10 or 15 questions? Any Latin woman who used phrases like “I´m a fighter” or “I have a temper” or “I want to live in another country” were ruled out (even though I was very attracted to a lot of them). At first I was also very hesitant about meeting women who didn´t live with their fathers either. From my experience, a woman who doesn´t know and adore her father usually won´t make much of a companion. However, when I thought about it a little more I figured I couldn´t make a judgment call like that on a person I´d never met. A girl may not live with her father for an infinite number of reasons. Doesn´t mean she´s not close to him. Turns out my initial thought was correct, but more on that later.

What I was left with after all that were about 45 girls. I thought maybe 5 or 10 of my initial selections would agree to meet me, MAYBE. Again, even with all the great advice from some black guys on the board, I was still kind of worried about the race thing, not to mention I had put on a few pounds in the last few months (Houston is the fattest city in the U.S. for a reason). There were only about 8 or 9 of the first 50 ladies that were willing to meet me. It didn´t discourage me at all. There were just too many women on International Introductions website to be disappointed. I gave Jamie a call a few days before the trip and he told me the average response was about 52% in comparison to my 20%. I thought it was kind of weird that he referred to the ladies as “percentages”, but I told him, “no problem!” “I saw plenty of other women on the site I was interested in. I was just testing the waters.” Jamie´s response was classic. I swear… these were his exact words in a very serious tone: “Yeah… you´re going to want to tell us about every single woman you´re interested in.” Allow me to translate that into, “You´re not a customer so I´m going to really let you have it” language. “Damn you stupid idiot! If you would have sent us every girl at first we would have had more time to get in touch with as many as possible!” Please don´t think I´m trying to imply that he was being an asshole. Jamie was very nice about it. I could just tell in his tone that he didn´t have time for bull. I sent him another email selecting about 40 more girls and we went from there. I actually ended up choosing a few of the women I ruled out at first. What can I say, beggars can´t be choosers! I think the prospect of meeting 40 women was a little overwhelming, so I was actually kind of relieved. Jamie didn´t tell me anything about the day I was arriving until the day before my flight when I called him. I´m not sure if this is something he usually does, but it made me really nervous and anxious for some reason. Through the entire pre-trip process I really didn´t want to bother him much. I have a business of my own and when customers are consistently contacting you over bull it really gets old. We took care of everything the day before I left so I was feeling a little better that night.
