Mandalay Bay Announces $100M Remodeling of Convention Center

Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino is recognized as one of the leading conference and trade show venues in the United States, and today announced details of a remodeling of the 2.1 million square foot convention center for $100 million.

Reflecting the changing needs and preferences of the modern conference, major technological upgrades, dynamic digital signage, and new and new designs that complement the tropical atmosphere of Mandalay Bay are the focus of the remodeling.

"With many of the city's best events and trade fairs home to Mandalay Bay each year, we recognized the need to upgrade our space to reflect modern needs and create timeless designs complemented by the best service experiences," said Ernest Stoball, Mandalay Bay's vice president of sales. "We've heard feedback from meeting planners in recent years and we're confident that this refreshing, upgraded space will exceed their needs and expectations in every way."

Technology Improvement

Understanding the growing demand for consistent and powerful communications, Mandalay Bay recently installed a whole new Cat6A Ethernet cable across convention centers. The Cat6A doubles the frequency of data transfers and speeds up to 9,400%, equivalent to downloading a 4K movie in 30 seconds.

Organizers will now have a new way to communicate with attendees throughout the day with 11 new dynamic digital walls, up to 24 inches by 13 inches designed for brand placement, sponsorship opportunities and targeted event messaging. Attendees will appreciate the addition of 20 double-sided 55-inch mobile flexible display units to make it easy and convenient to find rooms and events.

Further technological improvements will provide convenience for conference planners by installing RFID locks on all conference room doors, as well as more than 200 new motion-sensing cameras throughout the space.

redesigned space

Participants can experience a refreshingly bright and vibrant environment as they enter the newly remodeled convention space, complementing Mandalay Bay's tropical-inspired brand.

The space, conceived by MGM Resorts International Design Group in collaboration with Las Vegas-based Dezmotif Studios, reflects modern design elements and also considers the importance of practical improvements such as brighter lighting, streamlined signage and invitations to seat corners for on the go.

Featuring white painted walls and ceilings and cerulean and coral hues, the bold flower pattern will be highlighted by the warm walnut accent walls, providing a refreshing tropical landscape that only Mandalay Bay can offer.

In addition to a complete remodeling of all pre-functional spaces, conference rooms and ballrooms, Mandalay Bay's 1 million square feet of exhibition space was recently refurbished with paint, covering columns and relocated strobe lights.

art

As part of MGM Resorts' commitment to provide a platform for diverse and underrepresented artists, the remodeled convention space will feature breathtaking new works by Tandywe Murieu and Sarah Ann Johnson.

The Mandalay Bay Convention Center remains open and fully operational throughout the remodeling period, with upgrades expected to take place in stages, and business is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
