I am a twenty-eight year old massage therapist in Louisiana. This is my place to talk about the pros and cons of massage therapy.
Massaging people is pretty awesome to have as a job, but sometimes weird, annoying, or stupid things happen. They will be documented here.

How ya gonna show up thirty minutes late for an hour massage and then get mad at US for not being able to give you the full time?!
Not your fault that’s for damn sure. Just get em on the table. No u can’t have more time we have other clients after you. You fucked up and could have called.
The clinic called five minutes after the start time and he said he’d be ten minutes late. Twenty-five minutes later, he rolls in.
I hate waiting for clients, it makes me antsy.

re: creepy client stories. I have yet to get one in person, but I did have a guy ask for a “happy handy ending” over email. I advertise on Craigslist in a listing that heavily emphasizes insurance–both for motor vehicle accidents and private health insurance, as I’m contracted through multiple panels–and tends to weed out the weirdos. And yet, somehow, this guy genuinely thought I was going to bill his insurance for a handjob.
Not sure what kind of coding that would be…
My first “creepy client” was definitely a huge learning experience. I brought him to the room and I do an intake, he starts taking off his shirt before I finish! I quickly tell him to wait til I leave and I rush through the part about how to get on the table etc..big mistake. Before I opened the door something told me to slowly open it, and sure enough this guy was naked on top of the sheets! I tell him to get under the sheets as he does chuckling a “oh sorry”, I enter and before I touch him I say “I want to say if there’s any misunderstandings please tell me, do you have any questions?” He says a smirking no and a sorry again and I begin.. I start to transfer my anger through my massage to him ( also BIG MISTAKE) & he starts to notice, a sheepish “hey if you could please use less pressure” & I begrudgingly abide. He tipped in person & was polite the rest of the time, never came back.
I used to work at Massage Envy before I opened up my own practice. I used to have a regular client that would come in 2 times a month for a 90 minute massage. He was maybe in his early 60’s and barely spoke English. He would always tip me reeeaalllly good! I didn’t get any weird vibes from him. After seeing him for about half a year (I also worked on his wife once) I was working on him and had him in supine position, working on his legs, when out of nowhere he takes my hand and moves it towards his genital area and says, “Please”. Oh my gosh! I yank my hand away from his and look at him in shock, he then says,“I won’t tell anyone.” Like what the heck?! I was in shock and didn’t know what to do. He started apologizing and dumb me proceeded massaging him as fast as i could, just to get him out of there! LMP’s if your client ever makes you uncomfortable, LEAVE! stop everything and LEAVE! I was too embarrassed to tell my boss what happened and didn’t tell anyone anything while he still came back and I massaged him maybe 2 or 3 more times. At this point I hated coming in to work, asked for less hours and just every time a male client came in I would feel nauseous. I finally got the courage to tell my boss months later what happened and he banned him from every going to any Massage Envy’s worldwide. Boss asked me if I wanted to file any sexual harassment charges against him, but since it happened a while back I said no. I felt such relief and peace after! I ran into the client at a store months later and literally ran out of the store! That was my massage horror story.
I recently worked on an older gentleman, and once he got on the table he got creepy. When I was working his back he was wiggling and lifting his ass in the air like he was on his junk funny, also moaning and groaning. Moaning doesn’t usually bother me but this guy creeped me out! Then he tried to take the sheet off. I soldiered on, but came close to calling it off !
Note from Massage Confessions: Not cool, man! Anytime you feel uncomfortable, uneasy, whatever, you can end the session. Or at least tell the dude, “Hey man, this is a professional therapeutic massage, I dunno what you’re doing but it’s not good.”

I like to make sound effects during my everyday life. They can make a boring day fun! But they’re not really the best during massages, not relaxing, y'know. I have to try so hard not to make sound effects during my massages! Sometimes I let a stray sound slip and I just hope the client didn’t hear it.
That feeling when you can tell it’s too much pressure because they’re wiggling around on the table, but when you ask, the client tries to act tough and says it’s fine:
When a client starts talking about something you disagree with (politics, religion, etc):
Oh my god, my client smells so strongly of pot, he must’ve just smoked in his car. I’m gonna get a contact high. D:
Most massage therapists could not care less how hairy your legs are. It makes no difference whatsoever. So if you’re torn between getting massages or not shaving, don’t be. Don’t shave. Go get a massage. Life is stressful.
I finally got my own massage table! It’s not new and it’s not pretty, but it’s sturdy. I’m gonna start a mobile massage thing soon! And I’ll save money to eventually get a better table!
But first, I need a stool, blue tooth speakers, and a table dolly of some sort. I’ll massage family and friends to get enough money for these things.
Protip: doing a 90 minute deep tissue massage on an empty stomach is not the best idea.
