Be it in Europe, America or India, society is dominated by male power, male chauvinistic. Society remained patriarchal. The females always remained contended at the behest of the mercy of their male counterparts. Mythological, historical stories and evidence in both occidental and oriental society establish that society was dominated by males. Let us know why?
By natural arrangement, different individuals are designed in different ways. Men meant to be hard working, energetic, and more powerful, this is the reason that their activities mostly remained outside of their house, from agriculture to commerce. The females, on the other hand, by the composition of their physique, are delicate, tender and soft. Their body is fit to work which requires less physical energy. Natural selection approves different roles for the females to play. Dominating is the word that will certainly defy nature’s role in selecting males and females in society. If we look at the family system, we will see it is the mothers who dominate the family, she drives her husband at her will in many cases, therefore dominating the term would be too negative to discuss. In north-east states like in Nagaland, females are more exposed to outer works, from cutting the branches from the forest at the bottom of the mountains, and climbing with the bundle on her head and a child in her back.
For thousands of years, society is merging ahead with the poised distribution of roles of males and females. The modern thoughts and theories of recent times, like feminism in the second half of the twentieth century. When scientific advancement allowed everyone to enjoy life and work by the application of technology, like flying an aeroplane, or till a land with tractors, or rattling a machine gun, where brain powers were required instead of physical strength, things started changing. Then gradually the female looked back in anger, why should we accept your superiority? The root cause of all these things is the change in the relationship. Marx’ Dialectic Materialism established that only the economic relation is accountable between a male and a female. When money came in between the relation of a male and a female, the term ‘dominance’ started dominating the relation. When serving and sharing became value-added, males and females started segregating their shares.
On the other hand in the animal world, things are different in many species. Female species are dominant in their ecological world. Male-female relation today is now artificially projected; people are now evaluating the relation in terms of success, failure, possession of wealth. Lastly, the survival of male and female species depended upon the sweet-sour relation that added spice to the living together. Females wanted and still want to be won over by deserving males; it is t natural bent that made their male counterparts to be chivalric. Domination, when driven by materialistic desire, is harmful, but when naturally selected, is balanced and right—it does not show dominance, it is an offering.
on this article, i completely agree that this is natural occurance that male is more physically strong than a male but i would say that females are no...

How to Survive and Thrive in a Male-Dominated Workplace
Yes, Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President of the United States, was just sworn into office. We should celebrate this milestone! But for Millennial women working in male-dominated fields where the boys’ club is still somehow a thing, a workplace free of gender bias can seem like a pipe dream.
It’s also true that in the past 40 years, we have seen a steady increase of women entering male-dominated STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) — another milestone to celebrate. However, according to a Cornell University study, women in male-dominated careers face challenges such as:
While there are reasons to think the workforce is moving in the right direction, many women are not yet experiencing the benefits. So how can individual women thrive in male-dominated industries?
Perhaps the best approach is to ask individual women who have done it. And that’s what I did! In what follows, I offer four practical tips from and for women in male-dominated fields.
Of course, you will face challenges as you try to master a male-dominated workplace. Is it fair? Absolutely not. But focusing on the positive can help put your challenges into perspective.
Imagine for a moment being the female Campus Director for a school offering vocational training in welding and fabrication. It doesn’t get more male-dominated than this. What would it take for you to come to work every day ready to lead with confidence in such an environment?
Crystal Quintero, Campus Director at Southern Industrial Career Centers (SICC), doesn’t have to imagine it, because this is her reality. Here’s how she focuses on the positive:
Knowledge is power in a male-dominated field. As Director, I present the advantages of the welding field to prospective students. Knowing so much about such a male-dominated field makes me feel empowered, and making students eager to learn makes my job all the more satisfying.
Whether you’re the only woman at your firm or one of a handful of women scattered throughout various departments, it is essential that you find a strong group of women who can support you. This group can help you strategize, meet your goals, learn to negotiate, and give you a safe space to vent your frustrations.
Here are some options to look into:
Going back to Crystal, she’s actually part of an all-female team at SICC. One of Crystal’s colleagues, Angie Keene, really appreciates the support she gets from the team:
What I most enjoy about working with an all-female team is that we can feel more relaxed, which makes it easier to communicate because we feel comfortable with each other. Also, being around brilliant smart women is always a plus; we learn from each other.
There are opportunities to build your “personal board of directors.” It may take time to find the right group, but don’t give up until you have found your tribe.
Being a woman in a male-dominated field can be lonely. It can help to know you’re not alone, so find role models who know what you’re going through. These could be women in your life who are ahead of you on the path, or they could be famous women with wisdom to share through podcasts or blog articles.
Maria Maldonado, a Campus Admissions Representative at SICC, says:
The most important person to me is my mom. She taught me that just because you're a woman, that doesn't mean you can’t function without a man. As women, we are capable of doing the same and even more than a man.
Lily Maldonado, a Campus Admissions Representative/PRO at SICC, agrees:
My mother was born in a time and place where women weren’t allowed to ask for an education, where opportunities for females were scarce and to be free you had to break borders...or in her case cross them. Another lady in the industry that I find motivating is Teresita Fernandez. A visual artist best known for her amazing public sculptures and being one of the few female artists working with heavy steel, a medium once perceived as male domain.
Even in fields that are heavily male-dominated, there are men who want to be allies to the women they meet. Be on the lookout for these men and don’t be afraid to ask them for mentorship and advice.
How will you recognize them when you encounter them? Men who want to be allies in the workplace:
Because Eliud Medina, the Founder of SICC, read the research on how teams with more women perform better , he knew hiring women would be a smart move. He is an ally, a mentor, and a strong advocate for women in the welding industry. He says:
Having a team of awesome ladies in charge of managing the school keeps me in check. I know the women on my team feel empowered to share their opinions because they know I appreciate their perspective. It’s kind of like having a bird's eye view when I'm deep into the subject!
As a Millennial woman in a male-dominated field, you are rare and brave. Embrace your unique position and put these tips to work for you!

She uses theater tools to work on personal and creative development of people of all ages, with a specific focus on youngsters, girls, and marginalized groups. 9 Male Dominated Careers that Women Are Totally Crushing

There’s nothing stopping you from going against the grain and choosing a career field that’s typically thought to be male dominated. Many of these male dominated jobs pay exceptional salaries and can most definitely be performed by either gender. In addition, you’ll have the chance to be a trailblazer and open doors for other women who want to break traditional gender stereotypes in the workplace.
Here are 9 male dominated careers that women are totally crushing:
1. Law Enforcement
Although the number of women entering law enforcement has steadily grown in recent years, this career field is still largely dominated by men. If you choose to enter this field, you can work as a police officer who handles everything from issuing traffic citations to arresting suspected criminals. You’ll undergo specialized training on how to use firearms and tactical gear and be expected to maintain a good fitness level.
2. Attorney
You can also choose to work as an attorney if the legal field interests you. Although a lot of schooling and hard work will be required to pursue this career, being an attorney comes with great rewards. In recent years, some of the top attorneys in the United States have been women who have a high success rate in winning cases. Suzzanne Uhland’s law blog is just one example of an online resource that includes information on scholarships for women that can ease your financial burden while studying for your law degree.
3. Technology
If you have an analytical mind and a knack for computers, the technology field may be the perfect fit for you. You will be responsible for resolving a variety of technical issues and may be expected to perform hardware repairs. You may even have the chance to develop new software programs that can change the face of technology. In addition to working on computers, you can also branch out to develop new applications for mobile phones.
4. Accounting and Finance
Surprisingly, this field is still seen as a mostly male industry. Some women have even expressed concerns over unequal pay, and you can influence positive change if you have advanced financial education and training. Demonstrating your skills in bookkeeping, payroll management and other accounting-related tasks will help you excel in this industry. It would also be wise for you to learn about all the latest accounting software programs that can put you even more ahead in the game.
5. Culinary
Here’s another surprising industry that’s still largely overseen by men. In fact, most executive chefs in the United States are men who often make higher wages than their female counterparts. You once again have the opportunity to prove yourself and open doors for more women by entering this field. Although you may find it exhausting to constantly prove your worth, showcasing your skills can help you obtain the higher pay and respect you deserve. One of the best ways to get ahead in this field is to attend culinary school and practice preparing lavish meals for friends and family.
6. Plumbing
If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, becoming a plumber may be a great career choice. Plumbers are known to make excellent salaries, and many of these professionals end up owning their own businesses. You’ll have to learn how to fix and repair old pipes, install plumbing fixtures and use certain tools to unclog drains. To give yourself an even greater advantage in this industry, you should volunteer to be on-call 24/7 so that customers will be more inclined to hire you.
7. Auto Mechanic
For an even more groundbreaking experience, becoming an auto mechanic can help you set a new standard in the automotive industry. Although this career field is almost entirely dominated by men, that shouldn’t stop you from becoming a mechanic if you’re passionate about working on cars. In addition to performing oil changes, brake repairs and other common services, you may have to learn how to perform more extensive repairs.
8. Aviation
If you want to enter the aviation field without taking on the stereotypically female role of being a flight attendant, you can train to become a pilot. You can choose to either fly chartered aircrafts or commercial planes. There’s even the option of flying airplanes that transport cargo. When you fly an aircraft, you’ll be able to travel to exciting locations as part of your job and challenge the notion that only men can be pilots.
9. Science
There’s still a demand for more women to enter this field. After you’ve completed all the necessary education programs, you’ll be able to pursue a variety of career options in this industry. You can work as a physicist or chemist and may even have the chance t
