If you’re looking for assassin names, you’re probably looking for a character name or username for a really cool video game or writing a badass novel, screenplay, or other fictional piece.
If you’re doing the prior and figure out a really good name and are willing to share it, please do in the comments below!
Or if you’ve seen some epic usernames floating around that are perfection in the coolness department, would love for you to share any and all you’ve seen and liked in the comments down below.
Writing a fictional piece? What format are you working on? Are you writing up a short story, a novella, a full-fledged novel, maybe even a series of books? Are you writing a screenplay for a movie? A television show? A limited series? What inspired you to write about assassins?
Is your assassin a ninja/shinobi? What type of hitman are they? What are they like?
Was your fictional piece inspired directly or indirectly by an assassin in a video game – like Dishonoured, Assassin’s Creed, Hitman, or another video game? If so, which – and if you grew up being inspired by a slew of different games, which had the biggest impact on you?
Was your fictional piece inspired directly or indirectly by another type of fictional work? Like a movie, comic book, or novel? If so, which pieces inspired you, and had the greatest impact on you?
Does your fictional piece use other types of mythical creatures? Like ice or fire dragons?
If you’re writing a fictional piece about assassins, I have to commend you. I personally can’t imagine having the sort of creativity to write in this particular genre – I think it’s mega hard! So much to keep track of in assassin plots, so kudos to you!
Is there another reason you stumbled across this article – something that isn’t related to video game character names or names for works of fiction? Would love to know what made you look up assassin names! I’m so curious to know if there’s something else I’m missing entirely!
In this article I’ve done my best to come up with and dig up as many cool assassin names as I could, compiling them from suggestions I found around the web that I thought were amazing, and sprinkling my own ideas into the mix.
Whether you’re looking for assassin names for female assassins, or names for male assassins, I’ve done my best to cover the bases here.
I’ve also included a unisex assassin names section for those who (like me) are obsessed with unisex names because they feel they somehow have a cooler ring to them.
Heck, the unisex element may even be something you might want to work into a storyline if you’re working on fiction.
An assassin who’s name is “Rene,” who everyone thinks is a woman but turns out to be a man sounds like an amazing plot twist to me!
Same with the opposite – say, an assassin whose name is “Drew” turns out to be a woman.
I definitely think there’s room for many, many more name recommendations than the ones I’ve added to this list, so please do take a moment to leave a comment with any more good assassin names you can come up with.
Needless to say, the more options you have when it comes to this, the better, whether you’re looking for a username for a character or a name for a fictional character in a piece you’re writing.
It makes it a lot easier to find what you’re looking for, even if the name you eventually find isn’t on the list. Maybe something sparks an idea in your head that leads you down a thought process that finally takes you to the perfect name?
Which is why I also find it super helpful to have specific categories for inspiration as well as particular names in lists. Like the idea of using a real life assassin to name your fictional assassin after.
If you can think of more ideas like that, I would absolutely love to hear them! And I’m sure everyone else looking for assassin naming ideas who comes across this article would find your thoughts really helpful as well!
But let’s get into this list without further ado.
There are a slew of epic names for female assassins and aliases for them in other lists in this article, but I had to include a section dedicated to some of my favourites that don’t necessarily fit into other categories.
As a heads up, some of the unisex names for assassins might strike your fancy if you’re looking for female assassin names so check that out too, along with skimming the other categories to see if they have something that works out for you.
If I personally had to choose one or two to highlight that I really adore, it’d be “Azalea” and “Larke.”
These are two very different names, both with incredibly mysterious and hyper-interesting sounds.
They sound modern and fresh, and sounding powerful while also retaining, in my opinion, quite feminine appeal.
That’s probably true of many of the names on this list – that they sound strong and tough, while simultaneously maintaining femininity – and that’s why the names were for the most part chosen for this list.
If you know of any more names that would be suitable for this purpose, whether or not they fit this powerful + pretty combo or not, do share in the comments below!
As with the names for female assassins – the remainder of this article is littered with male assassin names that are also really great, but I had to include a list of male assassin names that don’t fit into any particular category as well.
The unisex assassin names section might also carry the perfect name for a male assassin you’re trying to name as well, so do take a moment to check through that list, plus at least a quick browse through the other sections, if you’re looking for a male assassin name and didn’t find what you’re looking for in this particular list to follow.
I personally love a lot of the names on this list, though I have to say “Zayne,” “Nix,” and “Dante” are some of my favourites.
I think it’s because they are ridiculously unique sounding, and aren’t ordinary names, even if there are popular historical figures and celebrities (like Zayn Malik, or Dante Alighieri who wrote The Divine Comedy) that have those names.
There’s also something appealing to me about assassins with names with one or two syllables in them.
I’m not sure why, but the quick-sounding names not only add more mystery, in my opinion, they also make a name sound like they pack a powerful punch. I may be alone on this one as it might be a bit strange, but that’s how I feel about it.
Like “Vlad,” “Mac,” or “Zephyr.” These names automatically sound more appealing to me for assassin names than “Vladimir” or “Makenzie” or “Alexander” (not that the last one is a direct comparison, but you get what I mean). Quick off the tongue just sounds like a better name for an assassin in my opinion.
Anyway! Here’s my list of favourite male assassin names, and if you can think of any more, do take a moment to drop a comment down below with your thoughts.
As I mentioned in the intro to this post, I actually think it might be a pretty cool plot twist to use a unisex name, where it’s implied that an assassin or everyone happens to think a particular assassin is a gender due to it’s most common usage, then when the assassin is met, he or she happens to be the opposite gender of what was originally thought.
Take a mysterious assassin named “Jordan” who turns out to be a girl, or an assassin named “Rene” who turns out to be a man when you finally get to meet him in the storyline. I think that’d be pretty cool.
Naming an assassin a gender neutral name and having him or her be androgynous, gender fluid, or non-binary would also be cool.
I think it would add a very interesting element to a character, and would be especially cool if you mentioned some commonly thought of as female traits and fashion choices (pouty lips and make up, for instance), as well as some stereotypically male traits and fashion choices (strong jaw line and super short hair, for instance), never giving away the gender of the character (if you even chose one for him or her) even at the very end of your book.
Just some thoughts! Let me know if you like the idea of using a unisex name for an assassin if you’re working on a character for a creative piece, or if you’re planning on using this idea to create a video game character. Would love to know!
Of course, you can always name an assassin after another famous fictional assassin.
If you’re naming a video game character, this would be super cool to do if you have the ability to alter the appearance of your character to look a bit more like the famous fictional assassin.
It would also be kind of an interesting plot element if you’re writing a fictional piece about an assassin as well, I would think.
Either you could make the character the complete opposite of the famous fictional assassin and make it ironic, or you could make the character similar in some regard (like visual/aesthetic) yet otherwise completely different from the character – and have it as an inside joke that you and select characters in your book know of the reference, but not the assassin themselves. I think that’d be pretty funny.
In any case, here are some popular fictional assassins. If you can think of more that should’ve made it to this list, let me know in the comments down below!
If you like the idea of naming your assassin after a famous assassin, but don’t want to go the fictional route, naming your assassin after a famous historical or present day one that really existed is another idea.
There are quite a lot of real life assassins, typically who assassinated politicians, and so you can find some really cool names and interesting backstories.
Here are a few of note, though let me know in the comments if you can think of more that really should be up here.
I love code names and alias uses for assassins. You can get really creative with these, having them be anything from fun and funny to serious, cool, and mysterious sounding.
I think my favourites of the funny/amusing ones are “The Meatpacker” and “The Cleaner.”
In terms of cool sounding ones, I really like those that make use of alliteration – so “The Dark Dagger” and “Scarlet Sword.”
These are pretty easy to come up with as well, since all you have to do is find an interesting adjective that starts with the same letter as your assassin’s weapon of choice.
Can you think of any more assassin code names and aliases? Heard of any you really like? Please take a moment to share!
What made you search for assassin names? Is it a name for a video game character or for a fictional piece? For something else?
What are your favourite names for assassins?
Did you like any in this list? Which did you like? Which do you think you might use? Have you come up with other badass names you’re willing to share with others?
And if you play any assassin themed names that inspired you to look up this article – either to look for a username or character game or because that video game (like Assassin’s Creed, for instance) was something you loved growing up and inspired you to write a fictional piece about assassins, do give a shout out to the game in the comments below as well.
Looking forward to reading your thoughts in the comments below!

I think I’m writing a novel! I want it to be a dystopian romance about a princess who falls in love with the bad-boy assassin who was hired to kill her father. Thoughts? Any specific ideas for the names?
Too cool! I have no idea about specific ideas – too many good names! Maybe Jasper or Vega? I really like J and V names, but I might be weird in how much I gravitate to names with specific first letters. I just think they sound nicer.
Do you have a name for the princess yet?
For the princess, I’m still caught up between deciding what type of name I want. I’m thinking unique, but not too unique. I like names that could be considered rebellious as well as girly. I’m not sure, do you have any thoughts?
As for the first name letters, I agree. I like having specific letters. J and V are excellent letters. I also thought maybe having some sort of unique nickname for the assassin, like blade or dagger. Of course, he would have a real name too.
I like that a lot. I think I often gravitate toward unisex names for girls when trying to name rebellious types. Like “Riley,” “Blake,” “Elliot,” or “Blair” just because I think it gives them more of an edgy sounding name.
I think your idea for a nickname for the assassin is epic!
Would love it if you stopped by once you decided on all the names to let me know what you chose. Such good ideas!
The assassins name could be Victor Frost and his assassin code name is his last name because when he kills either the people are frozen in fear or literally frozen. Or maybe because his blade is so icy it gives the victim frostbite. And lastly maybe because his eyes are ice blue and when he kills the victims are basically ice. Hopefully that helps you. But you probably don’t need help.
I’m writing a novel and I need some good names! I’m thinking about writing a story about an female assassin who gets caught up in saving her world. She’s not anyone special, but she is a Shifter (she can change shape) and a very powerful one and I need a alias for when she gets captured by rebels and one for when she gets caught by assassins. I’m thinking Rain of Firefly (or maybe both!). Do you have any ideas? I also am trying to think up a name for the Prince and the King. The Princes name I want to be a bit badassy, and the King’s evil. Any thoughts. The girls real name I am thinking is going to be Arya Taylor, but do you have any others? I want it to be really rebellious and reflect her being an assassin.
I think for the girls assassin name should be Rouge. I even have a backstory for it. So when she was little her dad wanted her to take the throne. And then when she came of age she refused. Soo, her father sent her away because he said she had gone rouge and the name stuck.
I am writing a story and I need the name for the villain. The main characters name is Eric Ryder aka Ghost. The reason I named him this is because as a kid he was made fun of and abused until one he went into at night and he saw something very bad. His teacher had killed his girlfriend and the story is about the events of his girlfriend getting killed. The girls name is Addison Black and she was originally trained to kill Eric but after he took a bullet for her she ended up liking him. I also named the assassin Ghost because he can teleport, become invisible, phase through any object, and he cant jump inside your body. For the villain name I need something sinister.
he went into a school at night sorry I was typing fast.
Errr… Not so sure about “Mr. Hands”
king is evil, but still a king so go with something powerful like Cyrus (Meaning: Lord). and for the girl….Alinta it means fire/flame . The last up to you go with something that geos smooth with her first name.

Assassins are hired killers who will murder a person for important political or religious reasons. Many people think that these trained killers are only found in the likes of fiction and movies.
But the truth is there are a surprising number of assassins out there.
Obviously, we can not get definite numbers as it is not an occupation that you pop on your tax return, especially in countries such as the US where the police and laws that govern such work are very clear that it is actually against the law.
However, in countries where this is not the case or where they do not have police or government structures in place then these hitmen or hired killers do still exist.
If you are just looking for a cool name for a character you are writing about or for a game that you are playing then we have some great names on our list. We have even covered some real-life assassins for further inspiration.
Check out our list and see if there is anything that takes your fancy.
