Malaysia stand with Hong Kong despite Chinese Crackdown

The Communist Party of China (CPC) determined to globally crack down on Hong Kong's extensive anti-extradition bill movement. China tried to percent Hong Kong's overseas supporters by all means. Some Malaysian Chinese initiated to counteract the anti-extradition bill movement. Endless verbal violence on the internet occured. Peace rallies in support of Hong Kong people are suppressed. The Malaysian Chinese Civil Society (the host of the assembly) seemed to "kneel-down" to the Malaysian government. Malaysian student activism leader Liu Yeung-hung and veteran current affairs commentator So Ming-keung were being doxxed, boycotted and smeared.

9/29, the rally in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in support of Hong Kong's anti-totalitarianism was full of twists and turns. The rally was scheduled to be held outside the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (affiliated to the Malaysian Chinese Civil Society). However, the Society reported to the police on the eve of the rally and disengaged themselves from the rally. Presumably, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia had exerted pressure on the Society. Convener of the rally, Liu Yeung-hung was forced to temporarily change the venue. The rally was held as scheduled, however, Hung was later summoned by the police and was accused of not giving 10 days' prior notice of the rally as stipulated by the rule of law. Liu Yeung-hung (aka Hung) said inattentively, "I rather concern about the martyr who was shot today (1/10). My business is no big deal!"

Hung, belongs to the Malaysian student activist organization, and Chairman of the New Youth, in an adamant look, bombarded the Chinese Embassy for their interference and the senior officials of the Malaysian Chinese Civil Society for their counter anti-extradition bill movement; the present Malaysian government succumbed to the Chinese Embassy and made the rally unwarranted. Hung said the pressure exerted by the CPC on the Malaysian Chinese Community has became more serious. He worried that 29/9 would be the last peace rally in support of anti-extradition bill in Malaysia. Once the Chinese government incited Malaysian Chinese, future rallies for Hong Kong will be formidable. It is possible that future activities in support of Hong Kong will be transformed into a "water revolution" in Malaysia.

The wave of anti-extradition bill movement swept through Hong Kong. Malaysian Chinese then started a movement to counteract the anti-extradition bill movement. Most Malaysian Democrats criticized Malaysian Chinese who supports Hongkongers, "You are disgracing our Malaysian. Hong Kong's business is none of your business. Don't bring in Hong Kong freeloaders' culture to Malaysia." Hung went to Hong Kong to support Hongkongers, needless to say, he is the first one to be doxxed and condemned. He becomes the target of public criticism in Malaysia.

"In fact, we have similar destiny and have to face unreasonable and barbaric regimes. The difference is that you are in the front and we are at the back. Hung said, "Hong Kong may be far away, but it is an example of developing a student movement. Malaysian Chinese student activists admired Hong Kong's student movement." Anti-extradition bill movement participant, a 15-year-old girl, Chan Yin-lam was found dead at sea in addition to Hong Kong Police's brutality and abused of power made Hung very angry. He said, "We are angry at the same thing ... This grief can go beyond distance."

A veteran current affairs commentator and a public figure, So Ming-keung, is one of the minority in Malaysia, who supports Hong Kong to resist. A gang of "Greater China Morons" (people who support integration of China and Hong Kong) raid So's facebook from time to time, "How can people support a secession movement?" Being boycotted by friends and relatives, So chooses to support Hong Kong. He said, "I cannot but support Hongkongers. When I imagine that I am a Hongkonger, I just cannot hold my tears."

So Ming-keung, who has been observing and analyzing Hong Kong's anti-extradition campaign, said his family members and most of his secondary school classmates counteracted the anti-extradition bill. It is estimated that 90% of Malaysian Chinese support the CPC, and the rest of 10% support anit-extradition bill.

"In the past 4 months, Hongkongers showed their courage, persistence and sacrifice in pursuit of their value which have moved people to tears, unless ones hearts are clouded by the absurd nationalism or fake patriotism." He thinks Hongkongers and Malaysian are the same, peers who are oppressing by autocracy and searching for fairness, democracy and freedom. Peers who refuse to be slaves but to live as free citizens. He pointed out that at least in Malaysia there is a mechanism for political regime changeover. Hongkongers have a more formidable challenge. So said, "Hongkongers can still resist to this extend, everyone is deeply touched with no exception." So says he has no economic interests in China, the CPC is too far away from him, that is why he is not afraid of offending China.

He explained why Malaysian Chinese act more like Chinese than the Chinese themselves in Hong Kong anti-extradition bill movement. First, Malaysian Chinese suffered from policy discrimination. Second, Malaysian Chinese are immensely proud of the rise of China. Third, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malaysia has been incorporating Malaysian into Chinese on a long term basis. So says the influence of China on Malaysian occupy movement has greatly strengthened as compared to 5 years ago.
