Maisie Williams has responded to a leak of personal photos , some appearing to show her topless, that were all over the internet this week.
The Game of Thrones actress was believed to be the victim of hackers who stole the images off her private social media pages and posted them in the public domain.
R epresentatives for Maisie have now confirmed the legitimacy of the photos and the source of the leak to Page Six . Here's what they had to say:
"The images online were shared from Maisie's personal social media account. The images are not explicit in nature, but pictures of Maisie and close friends at a spa at a recent visit in Japan."
One of the stolen photos appeared to show Maisie posing on a rock, while another is taken in stages with two other female friends removing their clothes.
Maisie recently flew out to Japan for an important reason – to raise awareness around marine animal shows, in which dolphins are captured in order to perform.
She urged her social media followers to sign the petition to agree they won't buy any tickets for dolphin shows, along with the hashtag #ThanksButNoTanks.

Maisie told Fox News : "It was something that just struck a chord in my heart. And I'm a firm believer that, if there is something that you really want to stand up and fight for, then you should.
"And with everyone doing their own little bit for what they believe in, hopefully together we can make the world a better place."
Numerous big names fell victim to an infamous hacking scandal from their cloud storage areas back in 2014, and celebrities including Kate Upton, Big Bang Theory 's Kaley Cuoco and Jennifer Lawrence were among those who had private, personal photos leaked.
Some of these stars pursued legal action and numerous publications vowed not to publish the images due to their invasion of privacy.

Maisie Williams is taking a huge leap with her next role!
The Emmy nominee has spent the past couple years since Game Of Thrones ended working on developing apps, investing, writing, podcasting, and working to promote sustainability in fashion. She’s barely had time for acting. But when the opportunity came up to work with legendary UK director Danny Boyle ( Trainspotting , 28 Days Later , Slumdog Millionaire ) on his long-anticipated Sex Pistols biopic, she went old school — sending in an audition tape hoping for a role like most everyone else she knew.
After not hearing anything “for ages” she was finally sent the info for the role she’d be fighting for: Jordan , the model who pioneered the punk fashion aesthetic in 1970s London. The only catch? Playing the part required a LOT of nudity. Jordan was known for going topless or wearing completely see-through clothes, always making the boldest statement possible with her look.
While Game Of Thrones was obviously known for its nudity and sex scenes as much as its CGI dragons, Maisie wasn’t a part of that aspect of the show. Heck, she started playing Arya at just 12 years old. When she did eventually have a love scene in the final season — in which she showed just a little bit of sideboob — some fans nearly revolted !
She’s still never done nudity in film or TV, and she was trepidatious to start. As she told British GQ Style this week, it was a major hurdle for her “just because of everything that happens in the industry and all the horror stories I’ve heard.” She added:
“I want to be in this show because I’m the best person to do this, not because I’m the only girl who’ll take her top off.”
She messaged the show’s casting directors telling them her concerns. Boyle sent back a note personally, explaining what this character was all about. As Maisie explains:
“Jordan was a political statement. Her entire ethos was turning the male gaze in on itself, and it was overtly sexual in a way that made other people feel ashamed.”
That’s a reason for nudity that the 24-year-old could get behind! She declared:
“If I take my top off, I want to make other people feel uncomfortable.”
Ha! So she went for it, auditioning for Boyle over Zoom in a sheer top with no bra. The filmmaker saw how serious she was about the role! She told the mag:
“And it worked out. I got the part.”
She continued to give the part everything, as we’ve already seen. Late last year paparazzi captured pics of her filming — riding a bicycle in classic Jordan style, wearing a clear raincoat with nothing underneath.
However, she assures everyone that while she went hard, she didn’t go full method like Shia LaBeouf or anything:
“I definitely didn’t like, do any drugs.”
However, she try to stay off her phone, saying in those days “you weren’t in constant contact with people, so I tried to calm my mind of modern-day stresses.”
Another level of stress? The real-life Jordan, who only passed away earlier this year at the age of 66, was actually on set! It helped Maisie learn her cool, confident mannerisms more, but was also “a lot of pressure.” However, Maisie says:
“But honestly, I never needed to feel any type of way. Jordan was never confrontational. She just knew what was what, and if things weren’t right, she’d say.”
Sounds like these two have a lot in common!
All episodes of Pistol , which Maisie promises is “going to make you feel things” on May 31 only on Hulu !

With high heels and even higher hair, Maisie Williams has added considerably to her 5ft 1in frame as she plays punk icon Jordan.
Williams, 23, is best known for starring in Game Of Thrones as Arya Stark, a trained assassin who disguises herself as a boy.
In her latest disguise, she wore black suspenders, a clear yellow PVC coat and white cowboy boots as she was pictured in character for the first time on the set of Pistol, Danny Boyle’s US TV drama series about the Sex Pistols.

To complete the transformation, she wore thick black eye makeup and bleached bouffant hair.
Miss Williams was filming in St John’s Wood, north-west London, which has been turned into the 1970s King’s Road, Chelsea.
Jordan, real name Pamela Rooke and also 5ft 1in, was then 20 and part of the Bromley Contingent of punks who followed the Pistols. She starred in the Derek Jarman film Jubilee.

Pistol, set for release next year, is based on the legendary rock band - consisting of Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, Paul Cook and Sid Vicious - and their rise to fame in the 1970s.
In the TV series, Anson Boone will play Johnny Rotten, Louis Partridge will portray bassist Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater will star as drummer Paul Cook and Toby Wallace will portray guitarist Steve Jones, with the foursome all pictured together on set.
Earlier this month the star-studded line-up for the drama was revealed, with Iris Law announced to be following in her father Jude and brother Rafferty's acting footsteps.
The model, 20, is making her screen debut as Soo Catwoman, one of the icons of the punk scene who became a rising star in the 1970s, and she joins Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Talulah Riley, and Christian Lees as new cast members in Pistol.

A first look image for the TV series, which is based on the memoir of Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, was also revealed following the casting announcement.
Soo Lucas, who dubbed herself Soo Catwoman, is known for her trademark haircut which she created in 1976 to look like she had cat ears.
The hairdo is set to be a very different look for Iris, who usually sports long brunette curls, though she may well wear a wig to emulate Soo's iconic hairstyle.
Thomas is set to take on the role of Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren, while Talulah will play fashion icon Vivienne Westwood, and Christian will portray the band's first bass guitarist Glen Matlock.

Boyle has had an acclaimed TV and movie career. His 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won eight, including the Academy Award for Best Director.
In 2012, Boyle was the artistic director for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was subsequently offered a knighthood as part of the New Year Honours but declined.
In January, Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment, said in a statement: 'It's great to be back in business with Danny Boyle, an exceptional artist responsible for so many great feature films and TV series.'
'Steve Jones was at the centre of the storm that shook the rock establishment and we're thrilled to have Danny and the rest of the creative team tell his story as a member of one of music's most notorious bands - the Sex Pistols.'
