What are the main features and specifics of the classic rockclimbing and other outdoor activities in Mallorca island?
One of the frequent questions I get when planning my annual climbing schedule is why Mallorca is my favorite location choice for running rockclimbing vacations and classes? Are there not many places in the world where we can go rockclimbing? Turkey, Armenia, Greece, Georgia, Canaries, Cuba, Thailand and so many other incredible locations? Why the focus is done on Mallorca island?
Each of the mentioned locations is unique in its own way. There is an opportunity to practice rockclimbing - our favorite sport almost all over the world - that activity is quite developed even in the most remote corners of the globe. However, each of the locations has its own distinctive features and, so to speak, the breadth of the range of possibilities. There are many exotic locations, for example, Madagascar island, there are narrow-profile, sports ones, for example, Kalymnos island in Greece.
However, the further I work as an organizer of thematic active programs in mountaineering and rockclimbing, the better I understand the correctness of the approach chosen a long time ago - there is no need to invent anything new in the sports.
Training as the norm of life is absolutely right and necessary for your physical and mental health.
But it is also necessary to receive other emotions - from the beauty of nature, from the works of human art, from the tight contact with cultural and historical events of nowadays. All these are integral parts of our existence.
So, Mallorca island offers to its guests an almost unlimited range of opportunities not only for recreation or rockclimbing, but, globally, for an active and healthy lifestyle.
What are the main features my rockclimbing trips to Mallorca island?
1. Very wide range of rockclimbing sectors and routes - sectors are not similar to each other, some have all the features of the coastal rock areas, some are completely continental in nature of the rocks. For those who do not understand what we are talking about - the rocks are very different in the nature of the relief and structure, depending on the location of the sector, the nature of erosion.
2. With all the variety of climbing sectors, visiting even the most remote ones does not require long road trips - any distance on the island can be comfortably covered by car in 45-60 minutes. Most rockclimbing sectors are located within half an hour from our base location.
3. A huge number of the accommodation options - for every taste and budget. Comfortable inexpensive apartments, secluded villas, luxury hotels.
4. Very comfortable prices for accommodation and meals. The quality of products is typical for the provincial Spain - everything is fresh, cheap and very tasty.
5. An incredible number of additional opportunities for active leisure - climbing, cycling, running, surfing, diving, fishing, kiting, trekking - the bounds are limited only by your imagination.
6. Museums, attractions, art galleries and concert halls - so that your stay in Mallorca island does not turn into a continuous training routine.
7. So why no? Shopping. Mallorca has everything - almost all the European brands are represented in the mega malls, various sports shops and markets are available everywhere, equipment stores with absolutely adequate prices.
To sum it up, I'll be honest. No other rockclimbing location of those which I selected for my rockclimbing trips and vacations, has such a combination of possibilities. Mallorca island is a must to visit, whether you are climbing routes of V or VI or even VII-VIIIth category. Even if you don't rockclimb at all, Mallorca won't leave you indifferent.
