There's something unsettling about her speech patterns and how much loyalty she has to Maxie, so i want to know if there's a back story to why she is like that.
She is kinda of a cross between a robot and "notice me senpai".
Its an archetype of character you see in anime relatively often. Rather than being some kind of past thing, its most likely simply her personality, and she's loyal to Maxie because she likes his cause.
Seeing as she said "deleting" I'd say she's a cyberman
Nah, she'd more likely follow Cyrus than Maxie if that were the case.
I think she's autistic or has some other similar disability.
Eh... I have an autistic brother, and I'm not sure... She may be, as Autism is a spectrum, so how much do I know, but I think she just has problems with someone or something, and she is trying to hide any form of emotion. In fact, Magma seamed pretty emotionless, the one with the most emotion and personality being Tabitha. Other than that, they're all incompetent and sometimes hilarious grunts. It is, of course, obvious that there is something different about Maxie and Courtney, especially Courtney. It's also possible that she just idolizes Maxie WAY too much, tries to act like him, and takes devoid of emotion way too far, but why would she idolize Maxie? Uh... Maybe check Magma Base thoroughly?
I have two guesses on this one. I believe that she is either a robot or been brainwashed. Brainwashing has occurred in the Pokemon universe (i.e Emma from Pokemon XY), and her fierce and extreme loyalty to Maxie does seem to support this a little. Also, her lack of a personality could have also been caused by brainwashing. This evidence could also provide a bit of a clue that she's an android, which could be shown by her speech pattern and word choice. Problem is, I don't think robots exist in Pokemon, or at least in the games, so that makes the robot theory less likely.

(Sorry, I know this is an old discussion, and probably not relevant, I was just looking up theories related to Maxie. )
The robot thing actually does have some support, given, as someone else already pointed out, there have been other random incidents that they do at the very least exist. The Trick Master bots, that one you fight in the Battle Chateau, in Pokemon XD they were trying to make Robot Legendaries and after you get far enough in the story, Dr. Kaminko (sp) brings up in musing "Robot Pokemon aren't working out. I know! How about Robot Trainers?" And those are just a few examples, we know there's been plenty of other incidents of sketchy science in the Pokemon World, so I wouldn't put it passed them. And we know that Maxie has always come off as the more technologically oriented between our two team leaders there. Maybe he made her? Rescued her? Maybe he doesn't even know, but the way he treats her I highly doubt it was brainwashing. Or if there was, it wasn't by him considering the other team members (crazy as they can be at times) are just fine in comparison. He's strict, but its obvious he cares for her, especially by ending events when he's apologizing for not realizing how their little family breaking up would affect her so badly.
I think she's the same type of crazy Zinnia is, with perhaps a slightly different underlying set of emotional/personality issues. Zinnia lost her young daughter and pretends her Whismur is her, frequently forgetting that she made all of that up. Courtney pretends to be a machine who exists only to further Team Magma (likely to separate herself from the atrocities the team meant to commit) and occasionally forgets she's pretending. Some of this is supported by the obviously suicidal intent of both characters in The OR Delta Episode (much MORE obvious in Courtney's case than Zinnia's). Courtney's case makes more sense given that Zinnia has an opportunity to atone and Courtney, who was more conflicted in the first place, has failed in what she believes to be her primary objective with no obvious means of atonement to her "senpai" Maxie or the world as a whole.
