Мэгги Джилленхол играет двойную роль – мать-одиночку Элин Мэррил, которая по ночам перевоплощается в проститутку Кэнди. Она делает это, чтобы прокормить своего ребёнка. Персонаж актрисы существует в 70-е, годы, когда порно-индустрия становится легальной. Вскоре она снимается в несколько низкобюджетных картинах, пока, наконец, не решается на съёмки фильмов своего производства.

MAGGIE Gyllenhaal has gone topless once again in a new scene from The Deuce.
The 39-year-old stars as single mum prostitute Eileen Merrell - who walks the streets under the name of Candy – in the raunchy HBO drama, which also stars James Franco.
In the latest episode of the explicit show, Eileen is determined to turn her back on prostitution and have a full-time career in porn.
Images show her transformed into a sexy school teacher and then naughty nurse for saucy on-screen action.
Looking incredible Maggie strips down to a pink frilly underwear set as she lies on the teacher’s desk.
At one point she pulls her bra down to bare her breasts as she gets rather intimate with her co-star.
Eileen is determined to eventually work behind-the-scenes and pleads with kind-hearted producer Harvey Wasserman – alias actor David Krumholtz – to give her a job off-camera.
Speaking about the role the actress recently told Time Out: "She gets involved in the beginnings of porn in someone's basement. And even though there's two naked guys and another naked woman and they're filming sex, that's incidental to her.
"What's exciting for her is the lighting, the idea of looking at sex through a lens. It's the birth of an artist. Once that gets woken up in her, it can't go back to sleep."
Maggie also revealed that she requested the director add in another intimate scene for her to film - of her character masturbating.
She told Vulture: "I thought here's all this performative sex, all this transactional sex.
"I wanted to know what her desire looks like. And after we filmed it he was 'OK, OK. We're OK. We have made something feminist. We have.'"
Mum of two Maggie admitted that she was concerned about the all the nudity but believes it will in fact send a good message to her daughters.
"Sometimes I do feel a little bit worried about the nudity being out there, but at the same time, I think that I'm using my body to make something really interesting and I like the message that that sends my daughters,” she added.
