Erotica is the fifth studio album by Madonna, released in the US on October 20, 1992.
The album was released simultaneously with Madonna's first book publication, Sex .

Two main editions exist:
‎– a 14-track version (originally with a 45031 catalogue number)
‎– a clean, 13-track edition, omitting Did You Do It? (originally with a 45154 catalogue number).

An album ahead of its time sonically and culturally. The average pop music fan was not ready for Madonna at her most honest, brazen, and emboldened. Thanks to the Queen Of Pop and this body of work, most of today's pop star(lets) are allowed to be open and expressive about love, relationships, and sex. If there isn't a homemade sex tape or provocative photoshoot to accompany an album's release it's deemed too tame. In 1992 a pop star baring their body (and soul) in the way that Madonna did on EROTICA and in her coffee table book, SEX, was unheard of. This was considered a major misstep in her career as the album came out along side SEX and the "Body of Evidence" movie. Madonna was defiant, in your face, and overtly sexual with these projects and many people wrote her off. Revisiting this album, away from the surrounding hoopla you'll discover a mini masterpiece anchored by dazzling club tracks ("Deeper And Deeper") and sumptuous balladry ("Rain"). Go behind the sexual innuendo laced songs and you’ll uncover some of the deepest, richest tracks she’s ever served up. EROTICA (her fifth studio album) was overshadowed by all of the controversy and became her first album (other than her debut album) not to spawn a #1 Billboard HOT 100 single (although the title track did reach number 3). However its legacy to her career (and pop music, in general) will be long lived as its one of the most important and sonically satisfying albums of the iconic diva's catalog. Aural sex, indeed.

Just want to reiterate, THIS is an excellent audio pressing to my ears. Soundstage is big. I hear things on an album i grew up with that I have never noticed before. Excellent work to #warnerrecords and #rhino

A really great pressing. Like others have said on here, this is heavy on the bass in the best possible way. Detailed, controlled and thumping to capture the grittier deep sound in the production. Overall a very clear and defined soundscape throughout. I always felt like the CD version was glacial and a bit lacking or flat. This pressing sounds like full bodied and alive. IMO one of Madonna's best vinyl pressings to date.

Further to the below comment, be mindful of the fact that the CD single "Erotica" does not contain the above remix tracks as indicated above. Upon closer examination of the photo included with this listing, the CD single has only 3 tracks (not 5): radio edit, album version, and instrumental. Buyer beware if you decide to go hunting for this set!

My all-time favourite Madonna album on gorgeous white vinyl. Sound is great, better than the 2012 black vinyl reissue, to my ears. Quality of the artwork could be slightly better and still has the '1989' copyright on the back but definitely worth having. Her most underrated masterpiece.

Her greatest album and the original pressing is sensational. Rarely strays far from the turntable and sounds as good now as it did back in 1992.

My copy says 1989 Sire Records instead of 1992 Sire Records when the album was released.
