Macau's gross gaming revenue amounts to $7.76 billion ($964 million)

February was a successful month for Macau. The region had a successful Lunar New Year holiday as operators witnessed steady visitors throughout the week. Inside Asian Gaming has seen its visitor totals rise, with public security police reporting Macau had more than 37,000 visitors on Saturday. This is the highest daily total since the start .
Despite the high numbers, COVID-19 is still playing a negative role in the region's ability to welcome guests. The area remains closed to visitors to Hong Kong, which reduces the number of regular visitors. Hong Kong is currently in its first major outbreak since the pandemic began.
Macau also has a strict border control over mainland China, the home of another tourist. Ultimately, we hope that regular travel will recover and traffic will flow in regularly.
In the first two months , Macau brought in $14.1 billion ($1.75 billion) in total gaming revenue. This is a decrease of 8% compared to the previous year. Compared to 2019, the total is even lower. The February 2019 total was more than 69% higher than last month's revenue, which was, of course, before the pandemic began.

The increase was welcomed, but the numbers fell short of expectations. The government expects the industry to earn $50 billion MOP on an annual budget basis. Total gaming revenue was $86.86 billion ($10.82 billion), up 43% . However, this is still down from the 2019 figure.
Annual budget expects the game tax to be just under $50 billion in MOP. The region must constantly see visitors and open its borders to Hong Kong and mainland China to reach expected numbers.
