The rooms are simply awesome but is this a hotel or a factory? I never had the idea I was in a hotel at all. It is a casino with rooms upstairs. Nice for having a laugh at all those pathetic people gambling all day and using the hookers, but any normal human being would avoid this place if they could. I couldn't as I had a conference here so it wasn't my choice. Conference delegates were simply embarassed by being here. 1 night is fun, 2 nights is less fun but ok, longer is a nightmare.
There is nothing around the hotel, so don't think you can have a stroll outside. You will spend your time indoors, as of course this is the famous Venetian, so everything is fake. The gondolas, the canals, the squares, all is cardboard. I got really sick after returning: spending 6 days in airconditioning without seeing and breathing real air makes anyone sick.
Not a nice place. Of course it is slick as hell - but it is pathetic at the same time.More

I stayed at the venetian for 4 nights on business.
If you like travelling to a country to experiance none of the local culture then this is probably the hotel for you. Purely geared up to extract as much money from your wallet as possible this hotel is prettly much what you'd expect - a mini Las Vegas with 24 hour a day gambling and shopping all inside a faux 'Italian' building.
Personally I found it all pretty grotesque and would never consider staying at such a hotel in future. Indeed if I did return to Macau on business then I would stay in the main town and not at this hotel which is located a long way from the main sights and attractions.

My family and i went to macau during december which was during winter. The weather was relatively windy and the climate was cool and dry. I took a very early plane to macau which landed at around 9+. I was expecting shuttle buses at the airport but to my surprise, i found none. At first , my family and i wanted to wait for the service but in the end, we took a taxi there. The taxi driver gave many surcharges and tried to earn more money from us tourists and when i checked the information booklet, we found that we were overcharged by about MOP$9. So tourists taking taxis! PLS be wary.
I was going on a free and easy trip for 4 days 3 nights in macau and read a number of negative reviews so i was a little worried that i will meet the same problems but i was wrong. There was no queue when i reached the lobby. Although the check-in time was 3pm, we were allowed to check in at 11 am. The people at the counter tried their best to help us and to converse in english as most were Chinese. We also found out that the shuttle bus service started quite late so we could not find the buses.
The room was very big and also had a good view. The bed was comfortable and the toilet was immaculate. However, as i was underage, i could not go through the casino to go to my suite from the lobby. I had to go one big round with my family. The security was quite tight at the suites which i am quite happy about. The price at the food court was quite expensive but the food was quite worth the price. The ceiling was a very fake sky. But the resort is huge and quite beautiful.
In overall, i liked the experience i had in venetian and i can say that it is the biggest and best hotel i have been to!

Read some horrible reviews about it but my mum was dying to visit the hotel so we went (and luckily did not experience what was mentioned in some of the reviews), and coincidentally a few days before the Macau Grand Prix.
Personally, the hotel's design is amazing! Beautiful interiors that are designed to look like an open street in Venus, and photos-wise, it did look very real. The huge premise was lacking in proper layout guides which made things rather confusing for us. Loads of shops but pricey stuff, so you're better off trying your luck shopping elsewhere. No lack of restaurants, cafes, bars though. Smart layout as Casino is smack in the middle of everything else, but not can be quite dampening for visitors 18years and below.
I have a penchant for hotel rooms, and the one we stayed in was excellent: huge and comfy but really lacking in dustbins for some strange reason.
The night shots of the hotel exterior are worth it, go take some!!

We stayed at the Venetian Macao for two nights during the weekend of the Beyonce concert. Firstly, we had very low expectations due to the reviews on this site as well as hearing media reports of the hotel's opening and guests waiting in line for hours to check in. We had expected the Venetian to be a madhouse.
Purposely, we timed our arrival exactly at the check in time, 3pm, to avoid waiting any longer than we had to. To my amazement, there was ZERO lines at all. The check-in area looked deserted, and there were at least 6 or 7 "windows" open. Even more surprisingly, this was a Saturday and the day of the Beyonce concert. I could not believe it. I walked past the velvet ropes and directly toward the counter to get checked in.
Walking to the room was a tiny hassle as we had our daughter and nanny with us so we first had to take an elevator to the mall since children aren't allowed through the casino. Walking through the mall to the tower was nice, though quite long - the place is huge!
One little issue is since our baby was in a stroller, we took this one glass elevator (for handicapped and strollers) in the mall instead of carrying her down the steps. Big mistake - this elevator had a very strange pull door, and while we were just going down, some kid ran up and tried to pull open the door. The elevator locked it since it was moving, but it made the elevator stuck as well. We had to press the emergency button to get a Venetian staff to "rescue" us. A little bit embarrassing since it was a glass elevator and people walking by could see we were stuck. Later I found that boy and his mother and gave her a good talking to, as her child had not only endangered myself, but my daughter. The mom was apologetic, and you could tell she has a lot of problems with her kid.
Other than that, our stay was mostly perfect. The Rialto Suite is AMAZING! We've stayed at the Venetian in Vegas twice, in both the original tower and the Venezia, and these Rialto Suites are miles better. They are over 1,800 square feet, and different than the Rialto Suites in Vegas as well.
Nice marble entryway, large living room, four seat dining table, and double doors to the bedroom. Much nicer than the Bella or Royale Suites, which look identical to the ones in Vegas. Also a huge marble bathroom, and a guest toilet by the foyer. Lots of closet space as well.
The price is really what's amazing. For a weekday or Sunday, this huge suite goes for only around $320 a night, which is definitely a good value for this room, and what we paid for our second night. On weekend, it gets to be higher, and we paid around $550 for the night of the Beyonce concert.
Overall, the service was great, even though we didn't require much of it. From when we arrived in our chauffeured Mercedes (not from the hotel), the bellboy were very quick with our luggage, and they were very efficient in bringing it up after check-in.
We had requested a rollaway bed for our nanny, and asked that it be taken away in the morning after the room was made, and be brought back at turn-down and they did this without any problems. Also the room service for our nanny was quick as well, and the food was fine.
Not sure if the seemingly superior service we received compared to the other people here was because we were in a higher room class, but judging from just our experience, the service in this hotel was great.
There was a crazy queue for taxis in front, which we expected, so we had a chauffeured car the whole weekend. The casino was very good as well, and probably because of it's size, it didn't feel too crowded, even though there were tons of people there. Actually, there were parts of the casino that were roped off so you know they could handle much more people.
The restaurants in this Venetian aren't as good as the ones in Vegas. Basically there are no celebrity chef-type restaurants here, probably because the mostly Mainland China clientele are more interesting in gambling than fine dining. Mostly the restaurants are from Hong Kong establishments like Cafe Deco and McSorley's Ale House, which are decent but not mind-blowing. Probably the best restaurant in the hotel is Morton's Steakhouse, though we did have a really good sushi meal in one of the more upscale restaurants in the "Grand Canal Shoppes" overlooking the "canal", which was a nice touch.
Unlike in Vegas, there also isn't a huge line for the gondola ride. There was basically no wait. We had the one in the mall, though as we were leaving we noticed there was another gondola ride outside in the "lake".
Overall, we had an excellent time for our stay. The Beyonce concert was phenomenal so that might have brightened our mood, but we just had a really good time at the Venetian.
For comparison's sake, we stopped off at the Wynn for lunch on our first day, and the Wynn is a beautiful hotel, but way smaller than the Venetian and way too small, I think, to be called a "resort". I didn't get a chance to see the rooms, but I think I might get bored staying there with how little there is in the hotel other than the casino. We also checked out the Crown where our friends were staying, and that had great rooms, almost like junior suites, and very modern and minimalist. But the location was in the middle of nowhere, and there wasn't much else around other than the casino.
Overall, we thought the Venetian was excellent. Could do with more entertainment options, like a Cirque de Soleil show or something, but once the rest of the Cotai Strip opens up, I think the experience here is going to be unbeatable in Macau.

I suppose the first thing for the uninitiated to know is that the Venetian Macau is not really a hotel. It's more of a casino and shopping centre with rooms above. The rooms are huge and opulently furnished, but strangely lacking in some basics you would expect of a 5 star hotel. No DVD player, waste paper bins were lacking and there was no guide to the hotel facilities. Instead there was a gaming guide and a shopping guide(as I said, it is after all a casino and shopping centre). There was no turn down service (you could spend an evening moving the cushions off the king size bed), no replenishing of the mini-bar and certainly no nice touches which you normally get in 5 star hotels in Asia. One exception was a Nespresso coffee machine, with free capsules, which was very welcome.
The sheer number of people using the hotel is mind boggling. The Venetian's own buses from the Ferry terminal are frequent, as they need to be because they are packed. Check in at the hotel is reminiscent of queuing for immigration and forget the offer from a bell boy with your luggage, as there aren't any.
We encountered a few problems but that said the staff coped pretty well. A non smoking room had been requested, but none were available. A more senior member of staff appeared at the front desk and surprise surprise had access to a non smoking suite that he could release to me. I had booked and re-confirmed on check in a sofa bed in the sitting room of the suite, only to be told later that they had run out. By 9pm that evening one had been found and made up, though they then mentioned (for the first time) a HK$500 charge. On complaining, the charge was subsequently waived.
The building is enormous, so you will get fit just walking from place to place. It is pretty impressive and worth seeing, but after 2 days we had had enough. The main Cafe Deco restaurant where breakfast is served is huge and the food is adequate, but I would hate to be there when the hotel is full. The smaller restaurants around St Mark's Square, particularly the Brazilian are a much better option for lunch or dinner.
There are clearly still teething problems months after opening. The fire alarms on our floor went off and no-one had any idea what to do. Staff stood around in the corridors outside our room looking puzzled. We decided to get out via the fire stairs and ended up in the staff quarters in the basement. On returning to the room the tannoys (just like a holiday camp) proceeded to repeatedly explain in 4 languages that it was a drill, long after the event and loudly and annoyingly for several minutes.
All in all an interesting experience. If you want to partake in mass Chinese tourism then the Venetian is probably the best place in Macau to experience it, if you don't mind being the only one in the queue for the restaurant without the breakfast voucher.
This is definitely not a 5 star experience.
