Macau Casino STR More Than Doubles YoY During 1H

The number of questionable transaction reports (STRs) submitted by Macau casino operators to the city government increased 125.2% year-on-year in the first half of 2023. This is the data released Friday by the Macau Financial Intelligence Agency.

Such reports amounted to 1,392, accounting for 73.1% of all transactions shown in the city over the period, compared to the gaming company's 618 in the first half of the year. Game-related STR was only 59.1% of the total in the first half of 2022 before entering and leaving Macau. 슬롯머신

On July 1 of this year, the Macau government reported casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the first half of 2023, up 205.1% year-over-year to $80.14 billion (US$9.94 billion) in June casino data. Macau eased travel restrictions related to COVID-19 in January this year.

Casinos in the city must report transactions of more than 500,000 MOPs to local governments, but that means such transactions are marked as suspicious.

The total number of STRs received by the Financial Supervisory Service in the first half of 2023 was 1,904, up 59.9% from the 1,191 tallied year-on-year.

"The change is mainly due to an increase in the number of STRs reported in the gaming sector," the information department said.

The tally of flagship transactions in the "financial institutions and insurance companies" segment fell 13.1% Y/Y to 373. The latest figures represent 19.6% of all suspicious transactions reported in the first half of 2023.

Under the heading "Other Institutions," suspicious transactions fell 3.5% year-on-year to 139, accounting for 7.3% of the total.
