Macao records improve total gaming revenue in February

More than 30 casinos in Macau saw total gaming revenue increase 4.4% year-on-year to $3.13 billion, thanks to a 26.6% increase in the number of people visiting Macau to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Official figures from Enclave's Bureau of Game Inspection and Coordination show the most recent results imply that previous Portuguese Enclave's casinos accumulated gross gaming revenue of just over $6.22 billion in 2019. This is down nearly 0.5% year-on-year.

Last month's results also came after Macau recorded its first year-on-year decline since July 2016, driven by a decline of $3.08 billion in total sales, slightly more than 5% over 31 days.

The local branch of global brokerage firm Sanford C Bernstein Limited and Company said total game sales were "flat year-over-year" from January to February 2019 and posted a "difficult comparison year-over-year" due to growth of about 20% in the same period in 2018.

Grant Govtsen, analyst at Union Gaming Securities Asia Limited, explained that total gaming sales in February were only helped by the mass market segment, which likely registered a 'low double digit' growth 온라인카지노사이트

"In theory, the Lunar New Year period should have benefited this year. Given the field observations and strong foot traffic trends, there has been a mass market for operators and growth in this sector still appears to be in double digits."
