List of Murder, She Wrote episodesThis is a list of Murder, She Wrote episodes in the order that they originally aired on CBS. Most of the episodes took place either in Jessica Fletcher's fictional hometown of Cabot Cove, Maine, or in New York City, but her travels promoting books or visiting relatives and friends led to cases throughout the United States and around the world. After the final episode of the television series aired in 1996, Angela Lansbury sporadically reprised the character of Jessica Fletcher in a handful of feature-length Murder, She Wrote specials starting in 1997. The last TV movie aired in May 2003. In February 2007, on the ABC daytime talk show The View, Lansbury announced that she hoped to make another Murder, She Wrote TV movie in the near future but only if her son, director Anthony Shaw, could find a suitable story.

Murder of Dee Dee BlanchardClauddinea "Dee Dee" Blanchard (née Pitre; born May 3, 1967, in Chackbay, Louisiana, United States) was a 48-year-old woman who was found stabbed to death in her Springfield, Missouri, house in June 2015. She was murdered by Nicholas Godejohn. The murder was planned by Godejohn and her daughter, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard. Police discovered the body of Dee Dee five days after the murder, upon residents seeing alarming Facebook posts written by Gypsy-Rose Blanchard the day prior. Hours later, both Gypsy-Rose and Nicholas Godejohn were arrested in Godejohn's native Big Bend, Wisconsin, and both confessed to the murder. The media revealed that Dee Dee had forced Gypsy-Rose Blanchard to pretend to have severe physical and mental disabilities for financial and social advantage, a condition known as factitious disorder imposed on another (FDIA). Shortly before trial in 2018, Blanchard had pleaded guilty in 2016 to second-degree murder and was sentenced to ten years. After a brief trial in November 2018, Godejohn, who had committed the attack on Dee Dee, was convicted of first-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Blanchard was paroled at the end of 2023. The case has been the subject of several films and television series.

Murder of Bridget TownsendOn January 15, 2001, 18-year-old Bridget Fay Townsend (June 26, 1982 – January 15, 2001) disappeared from her boyfriend's home in Bandera County, Texas. Townsend was missing for more than a year before a prisoner named Ramiro Felix Gonzales (November 5, 1982 – June 26, 2024), who was serving two consecutive life terms for a September 2001 abduction-rape case, confessed that he was responsible for murdering her. He had kidnapped and raped Townsend at his family ranch in Texas, where he fatally shot the girl. Townsend's body was found in October 2002 at a field in Southwest Texas. Gonzales, who was 18 at the time of the murder, was found guilty of the murder and sentenced to death in 2006. After spending close to 18 years on death row, Gonzales was put to death by lethal injection on June 26, 2024, despite calls for clemency and a medical expert's recant of his original testimony that Gonzales was a great danger to society.
