MSCA opportunities for Uzbekistan
The MSCA programme under Horizon Europe is designed to be globally inclusive and open to researchers and institutions worldwide.
The main MSCA opportunities where Uzbekistan is eligible:
1. MSCA Doctoral Networks (DN)
Competitive funding for international research & training networks that recruit and train PhD candidates.
Eligibility:
· Individuals: Doctoral candidates of any nationality can apply for positions funded within Doctoral Networks projects.
· Organisations: Entities in Uzbekistan can participate as associated partners in international consortia and benefit from funding to recruit doctoral candidates and host secondments.
2. MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF)
Individual fellowships for postdocs to conduct research abroad and develop their careers.
Eligibility:
· Individuals of any nationality, including from Uzbekistan, can apply for European Postdoctoral Fellowships hosted in EU Member States or Horizon Europe Associated Countries regardless of their home country.
· Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: Designed for European researchers to do research outside Europe, but individuals from Uzbekistan can participate in host roles or mobility phases within European fellowships.
· Requirements (PF): PhD at the call deadline, up to 8 years of research experience after PhD, and meeting the MSCA mobility rules.
3. MSCA Staff Exchanges (SE)
Funding for exchanging research and innovation staff across international, intersectoral, and interdisciplinary partnerships.
Eligibility:
· Organisations in Uzbekistan can join consortia and participate as associated partners to host or send staff on secondments.
· Staff eligible include researchers, administrators, technicians, and managerial personnel involved in R&I activities.
· Notes: Secondment periods are typically 1–12 months; funding supports travel, training, and networking costs.
4. MSCA COFUND
Co-funding for doctoral and postdoctoral programmes at national, regional or international level.
Eligibility:
· Organisations (e.g., universities, research institutions) from Uzbekistan can partner with EU organisations to co-fund programmes that embed MSCA models of training, mobility and excellence.

5. MSCA and Citizens
Public engagement events to bring research closer to society.
Eligibility:
· Institutions with research communication and outreach capacity can participate and organise events in collaboration with European partners.
!!! Notes: Although not traditional research funding, it’s a supported MSCA opportunity under the programme.
Key Eligibility Points for Uzbekistan
1. Individuals from Uzbekistan can compete for MSCA positions (especially Pfellowships and Doctoral posts) regardless of nationality or residence.
2. Organisations in Uzbekistan can participate in international MSCA consortia as associated partners in Doctoral Networks, Staff Exchanges and COFUND calls.
