MEPhI Events Digest: November 1-15, 2024
Ekaterina MironenkoThe first half of November flew by at the speed of the rocket! MEPhI tried to keep up with the pace and held a bunch of great events for our international students. Let's take a look at the digest!
- MEPhI African Students' Union (MASU) meeting (November 1);
- Festival of Cultures (November 5);
- A series of events-excursions “MEPhI Campus Tour” (from September 27 to present);
- Expert meeting of “AtomPRO” project participants with foreign students (November 14);
- Adaptation event “MEPhI: instructions for use” for foreign students (November 15);
MEPhI African Students' Union (MASU) meeting
took place on November 1. The purpose of the event is to facilitate the process of adaptation to life in Russia and study at MEPhI for new students from different African countries. The event was addressed by African students from senior courses, The International Friendship Club participants and representatives of the administration.
At the event, students from different parts of huge Africa enjoy their favorite music, eat national food and share their experience of living and studying in Russia!

Festival of Cultures
was held on November 5. The aim of the annual Festival of Cultures is to present the cultures, peculiarities and traditions of the countries of MEPhI students. As a part of it, international students can tell about their homeland to other students through national cuisines, creative performances, stories about their cultures and demonstration of folk crafts and various items that are the heritage of their country. In addition, the international students were able to get acquainted with the culture of different peoples living in Russia, which helps them to become more interesting and better integrated into Russian culture.
In the organization of the event took part about 100 foreign students (MEPhI International Friendship Club members and International Student Union of IATE MEPhI) from the following 27 countries: Afghanistan, Burundi, Cambodia, Chad, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Palestine, Panama, Russia, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe.
About 500 students of MEPhI visited the Festival of Cultures.
About 150 people were spectators of the concert program of the Festival of Cultures.

The series of events-excursions “MEPhI Campus Tour”
has been held since September 27. During the period under consideration 2 excursions were held - on November 8 and 15. The purpose of the excursions is to familiarize foreign students with the territory of MEPhI, to visit important places and various laboratories. The excursions were conducted in French and Spanish. In total, 10 foreign students of MEPhI attended the excursions.
An expert meeting of AtomPRO project participants with foreign students
was held on October 14. At the meeting, foreign students listened to a presentation by Boris Dulkin, Head of the Product Development Department of the private institution RMS, and participated in a discussion on the topic “Nuclear Industry and New Businesses in the Energy Sector”. The meeting was attended by 16 participants from different countries.
The adaptation event “MEPhI: Instructions for Use” for foreign students
was held on November 15. The aim of the event was to adapt foreign students to studying at MEPhI and life in Russia. A lecture was held for them, which contained answers to frequently asked questions and solutions to arising problems. In addition, a quest was held for them, in which the foreign students were able to assimilate the information received on visual examples and get acquainted with the culture and traditions of Russia. About 40 foreign students of MEPhI took part in the event.
