National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute) is the biggest university in Ukraine with more than 20.000 students. It occupies the first position in the top of the best Ukrainian universities. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is one of the oldest technical universities in Ukraine.

University has 16 faculties and 11 institutes, trains Bachelors, Masters, PhDs, and Doctors of Science. 500 professors and 1300 associate professors work here.

Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was founded on August 31, 1898 on demand of local sugar factories owners. More than 1 million roubles were collected from 139 donators. There were 4 departments in the first year - mechanical, engineering, agricultural, and chemical, under the name "Emperor Alexander II Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".

The first rector was Viktor Kirpichov, also the founder of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute; the Head of the Examination Board was professor Dmitri Mendeleev. During World War II Institute has been evacuated to Tashkent, and only the liberation of Kyiv in November 1943 made it possible to reopen the institute. During the history, the University has been led by 23 rectors and changed the name for 7 times.

Developments of the University were awarded with State Prize of Ukraine, Scientific Park “Kyiv Polytechnic” plays a significant role in the commercialization of scientific research results. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute cooperates with technical universities of dozens of world countries, as well as with a lot of international organizations (UNESCO, UNIDO, WIPO, NATO, EDNES, ICSU, CODATA, etc) and the most leading corporations and firms (SIEMENS, FESTO, SAMSUNG, INTEL, etc).
