Emergency Alert Information for American Citizens
The CDC requires all air passengers entering the U.S. (including U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within one day of departure or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days.

*** Effective November 8, 2021, all non-immigrant, non-U.S. citizen air travelers to the United States will be required to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States.
Beginning December 6, 2021, ALL TRAVELERS, whether or not they are vaccinated and including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents (LPRs), will need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test one (1) day before their flight. Please refer to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website for more information on acceptable tests. There is a testing center in Luxembourg’s airport that is open seven days per week. Please see “Covid-19 Testing” below for further options.
Exemptions will be considered on an extremely limited basis. Please contact your nearest embassy or consulate to apply for an exemption. Please visit the CDC webpages for more information about exemptions  and the requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving in the United States .
The parliament of Luxembourg adopted a new law easing Covid-19 restrictions on March 11th, 2022.
The 3G COVIDCheck regime  (individuals who are vaccinated, recovered, or tested) and mask wearing apply to visitors and health professionals accessing Hospitals, elderly homes and medical facilities. Read more here .
It is the understanding of the U.S Embassy in Luxembourg that the government of Luxembourg makes the COVID-19 vaccination available to all residents (aged 12 and older) regardless of their nationality, and regardless of whether they have health insurance in Luxembourg. Vaccination is also available at general practitioners and pediatricians. The list of participating physicians will be updated regularly and can be consulted on the government website .

The U.S. government does not plan to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to private U.S. citizens overseas. Please follow host country developments and guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination.
The government of Luxembourg has announced that starting November 7, CDC vaccination certificates are accepted for entry to Luxembourg. U.S. residents can travel from the United States to Luxembourg even for non-essential reasons if they can present a valid vaccination certificate.
