PONO Legal is a Hawaiian 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based on Maui, with the mission to provide free legal services, information, and support to help those impacted by the Maui wildfires.
We are a professional volunteer group aiming to protect the ʻĀina through our knowledge of language, with "PONO" as a guiding value. Formed in the Spring of 2017, PONO seeks to take real action through language analysis skills.
I pledge to be pono (righteous) on the island of Hawai'i. The pilina wehena ʻole ke aloha honua. One's love for the planet is an inseverable relationship.
PONO Legal representatives are available at the Office of Recovery-West Maui (Lahaina Gateway) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10am - 2pm. During the Native Hawaiian Advancement Convention held on Maui in November 2023, we learned about how education in west Maui has been affected by the fires.
