The dogs discovered frightening information in the guidebook: the Source is a ticking time bomb. The strange, red-glowing symbols represent a countdown timer.
The Resistance included dogs from Rex's brigade, who had previously examined the Source. One of them possessed a photographic memory, but due to his age, the film was nearly depleted.
