How to Program a Subaru Key Fob
If you have a Subaru key fob that has buttons that don't click, there is likely a dead battery. Our service center at Capitol Subaru can replace the battery and help you learn how to program a new key if necessary.
Electronics designer Tom Wimmenhove discovered a flaw in the way that Subaru's key fobs process code. It turns out that they don't "roll" codes like other auto makers.
Keyless Entry
Subaru Forester, Outback and Crosstrek owners, as well as WRX and WRX STI Impreza, WRX and Legacy owners, will appreciate the convenience of keyless entry. Whether you want to leave your keys somewhere safe or are worried someone will try to take your car away this technology is created to give you peace of mind and maximum security.
The way that it works is pretty simple. When your key fob falls within the range of an electronic sensor, it transmits an electronic signal to the sensor. If the signal is valid, the vehicle will lock or unlock as needed.
You can also limit the operation of the trunk and doors via the key fob changing the keyless entry setting on the multi-function display (models come with "keyless entry system with push-button"). Consult your SUBARU dealer for details.
Keyless entry is a fantastic method to get into and out of the vehicle, even though you'll still need a physical or electronic key to open the. This makes it possible to lock your Subaru before you go running, mountain biking, or kayaking without worrying about if someone will be able to find your car and drive away in it. It's also a fantastic feature for those who don't like carrying around a number of keys when they go hiking or camping, as the key fob can open your trunk and unlock your door with just one click.
Remote Start
If you're stuck in traffic or working from home having the option of remote start is a great feature to have. With this option, you can start your Subaru's engine from a distance to warm up the cabin or cool it down when it's hot in Fountain.
Remote start can be done via the built-in remote that comes with your key fob or through the Starlink App. Both methods use the same radio frequencies to communicate, however the app provides more options using a mobile-friendly interface. No matter how you manage it the engine will run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes before shutting off automatically. You can open the doors of your vehicle with your key fob after it has been started.
You can also heat the vehicle for a cold winter morning so that when you're all bundled up and ready to go out for a day of skiing, you can press your fob button to warm the interior before getting in. When you return to your car following the day of skiing you'll be cozy and warm. Plus, you won't have to scrape the ice off your windshield! Make sure to secure your car after you drive to ensure that nobody else can drive off with the engine running. You'll want to ensure you know how to disable remote start using your key fob, or through an app.
Car Locking
If you are leaving your vehicle in a parking lot or heading to a meeting and need to lock the car, pressing the lock button on your key fob will ensure that everyone is secure. Subaru automobiles have a unique system which prevents the steering wheel from rotating unless a key is in the ignition. It's an extra safety feature that is designed to stop theft by installing a hotwire in your vehicle. This feature is particularly useful when you park in a crowded parking lot.
If you've noticed that the power locks on your Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Impreza, or BRZ don't turn on or aren't working correctly it could be due to an issue with the battery of your key fob. Brooklyn Park Subaru can resolve this problem in most cases.
If you know how to activate the system Subaru vehicles will start regardless of the fact that the battery in the fob's key dies. Most Subaru fobs contain a hidden physical key that turns on the car's starting system.

To activate this feature To use this feature, press the lock button twice within three seconds, then press the unlock button to begin your Subaru. Refer to the owner's manual or an Subaru dealer near you to get more information on the type of keyfob you have, and the instructions that apply. You must first open the transmitter circuit of your Subaru key fob, and then note down the 8-digit code of the first number (for example, 12345). This code is required when programming a new or replacement key fob.
Security
Subaru has always been a leader in the industry in terms of safety. They're equipped with a range of advanced driver-assistance features, along with innovative passive safety features like the ring-shaped reinforcement frame. G28 Car Keys help the drivers of Subaru models feel secure and safe no matter what they are doing.
PIN Code Access is one of the most useful security features found in the world of Subaru. This lets you unlock the lift-gate or trunk of your vehicle without a key fob. You can program a five digit code that you enter into your vehicle's trunk or lift-gate button.
Your vehicle will confirm that you have entered the code by chirping series of times. Once you've entered all five numbers into your Subaru then you'll be able to unlock the vehicle by using the code you programmed.
