Seats
Most 3 wheel double buggies begin as single pushchairs. However, some models can be converted to accept a second seat with adapters. Certain models let you add an extra board for older children who are ready to walk, but require assistance.
Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for an ultra-lightweight option that is perfect for city streets. It's easy to move and comes with an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and will accommodate two car seats or an infant carrycot and seat. The seats are required to be oriented forward and there's no room to store a bag of groceries underneath which is why you'll need a sidepack for this.

It can be used in 30 seating configurations, and has a built-in ride-on board for older kids who prefer walking plus a 'cinema seating' mode that raises the back of the seat for better visibility.
3 wheeled pushchair &teds dots are great single buggys that can be easily adapted to accommodate two (or three!) different configurations. This is especially helpful when you have a child in a car seat, as the frame can be equipped with a wedgie to allow for optimal lying flat, or car seat adapters for various brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3-wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump on the road, particularly if it's on rough terrain such as grass or paths that aren't paved. Some models also have locking front wheels to assist in maneuvering and navigating obstacles like curbs.
Some models use air-filled tyres that provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures, therefore, make sure you have spares in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres that are specifically designed to handle bumps and are less prone to punctures, however, you might feel a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you decide to run.

Folding
A 3 wheel double buggy can fold up very easily to store it. There are options that fold flat and stand up (as though they were in the form of a pushchair) and those that open to reveal a more umbrella-like folding that has the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels a buggy has, in general the easier it will be to maneuver on rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than typical size. You will have more stability and it is less likely that you will need to tip over or flip your child.
A popular option is the iCandy Wave, which can be used from birth using an infant car seat and transforms into a side-by-side double buggy once your child is old enough for them to sit next to each other. It's a comfortable and light-feeling model which makes it easy to push, and it comes full of extra features including a bumper bar and raincover.
Another alternative is the phil&teds sports that is a future-proof model because it's a fantastic single buggy from day one and then adjusts to take 2 (or even 3!) All of this fits into its compact footprint. It is an innovative three-wheel design that includes a sling for better manoeuvrability and stability.
