...although, I think this movie is fairly universal as teens of any era all share the same, 'My life is over' moments. The true loves lost, the broken hearts, the depression, struggling with grades. Oh, and the dissections in science class! Euuuuu!!! The school kids nowadays, even down into upper grade school, are light years ahead of where my teen years were spent. I am quite convinced I would never survive the jungle today's teens must navigate. I grew up with woody station wagons, surfing, Romper Room, Red Skleton, Ed Sullivan, Elvis' first TV appearance, and watched the assassination of John F. Kennedy on live TV when I was in sixth grade. Until watching this movie, I had no idea how savvy the kids today have to be just to make it through high school. I do feel sorry for them because my childhood was more Norman Rockwell. This movie was LOL, but it also helped open my eyes to what my grandchildren are living with every day. I love the scenes where Lola and her mom, Anne, snuggled and spooned together. I think I'll give that a try with my teenager granddaughters the next time their 'My life is over' moment comes back around, and it will. As we firmly plant our feet in adulthood then parenthood, unfortunately, there are still the same failed relationships along with those, 'My life is over' feelings as many of us navigate The Waters of Divorce. Does it truly end? Truly? Those lucky enough to find their Forever Mates still face that final separation of death. I've outlived two of my husbands and now at nearly 70, find myself single...again. Ugh. I'm not a Billy Ray or Miley Cyrus fan, but Miley was quite believable in this movie, and I loved her narration in parts. I remember Demi when she was a soap opera star (General Hospital) and I remember her last episode when she was actually saying her good-byes on set. She and Tommy Lee Jones (he was a Dr. One Life to Live) have come a long, long way since their soap opera days. This movie is well rounded. It not only deals with the trials that kids deal with everyday, but it is also about growing up, for both teen and parent. It is actually a feel good movie. Both kids and parents make mistakes, but they love...and trust...each other enough to confide, confess, forgive, and find an even deeper love, deeper understanding, and stronger relationship.

The Emoji Movie might have been 💯 . It might have been a work of quiet genius, in the manner of Toy Story or The Lego Movie or Inside Out: a quirky and soulful exploration of the worlds that exist in parallel to our own, investing objects that would seem merely to be dully inanimate with story and, thus, empathy. It might have been, too, a particularly timely exploration of smartphones and their contents: Here, after all, are objects that are with so many of us, at our sides and in our hands, humming bits of glass and metal that tell a million little stories with each swipe, and each tap, and each touch of a warm human pulse. But: no. The Emoji Movie, instead, is a frenetic mishmash—not so much a single story of a parallel world so much as a roller-coaster-y tour of some of the apps of 2017: Spotify, Instagram, Twitter, Candy Crush, even Dropbox. Everything, here, is branded—even the parallel world itself, Textopolis, which is home to Gene, the offspring of two “meh” emojis. Gene is, in the grand tradition of such for-kids-but-also-not-totally-for-kids films, Different. He is not limited, in the way of the emoji, to one expression; he can make them all. But in order to realize that which makes him Different might actually make him Special, Gene first goes on a dizzying journey—through Textopolis, yes, but also through Spotify and Just Dance and YouTube and, in general, late capitalism as it is understood and manufactured by the Hollywood of the moment.

This movie was like a lifetime meets teenage rom com but having children act as adults (not in a good way) and adults act as children......both equally bad. I do admit I thought the cop was going undercover (the moms new bf after sleeping with her ex husband many times) Somehow Kyle was getting in trouble because his dad brought drugs out (personally I thought the dad was making it up and it was his drugs because Kyle didn't seem high nor did he do drugs in the movie maybe he smoked once but I can't remember if he even did that) and it was cocaine and weed which now I get were clearly Kyles. Yet at the end Kyles father goes to the concert after hating him the whole movie but one song changes it ALL!!! LOL okay. If my child had those in their possession, the last thing I would do is smile at them from a concert floor. I don't understand why there was a narcotics detective in this given there was a lot of drug use by parents and some weed smoking by the kids. I get the mother daughter relationship but she basically ignores her other two children. I can't recall one clip of the father with the other two children either. I had hope this would be somewhat okay at least but this just was downright a waste of time and reminds me of why I don't watch movies. It was weird how it was "innocent" yet it was just kids sleeping with kids and grown ups sleeping around and smoking weed...infront of a narcotics officer...that alone....I will never understand. Had no purpose in putting his career in the movie at all other than to confuse you into thinking something will happen when it doesn't. No real foundation to this other than it was just a put together fast, piece it together and film it with "known celebs" to make it seem cool when I can't stress it enough how horrible this is and I am wasting my time writing this review but damn, after seeing that I had to vent. That star count cannot be accurate. I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE AND IF SO OH WELL.

Being a Miley Cyrus fan I was of course excited for this movie to come out and I expected to like it but when I actually saw it I loved it even more than I thought I would. What makes LOL really special is that it's not one of those cliché teen movies but it's rather pretty close to the real life. It is amazing to see how Lola (Miley Cyrus) and her mother Anne (Demi Moore) think they both live in different worlds while they actually not only have pretty similar personalities but also struggle with pretty much the same issues in live. It's not only that teens will be able to relate to Lola but mothers will probably relate to Anne too. And so seeing this movie kinda let both mothers and daughters see the other one's site & thereby might even help them to better understand each other. I saw this 4 times at the movies and loved it more and more with every time I watched it. I just pre-ordered the BluRay and I can't wait for it to come out & arrive so that I can watch it over and over again <3 It's seriously one of the best movies I've ever seen and I'm not only saying this because I like Miley but because it just has everything a great movie needs: a great storyline & message, an excellent cast, it's really funny (yeah I'm positive you'll actually LOL while watching it) and totally romantic If you didn't catch this at the movies make sure to buy it to watch it at home and if you already saw it in theater well then you know why I loved it so much!

What the hell was this movie about? This thing felt like a collection of short stories that went absolutely no where. They were just spliced together with no rhyme or reason. LOL chronicles one school year in the lives of Lola (Miley Cyrus; The Last Song, "Hannah Montana") and her gaggle of bubble gum Teen Beat friends. They attend some unnamed high school whose population is only made up of the most absolutely beautiful teenagers on the planet and their days are spent in cliche filled montages set to a random pop song. The girls are the best of friends with the minor exception with the school bad girl Post It (a tragically underused Ashley Green; The Twilight Saga, The Apparition); the boys all have long hair they constantly flip in a "I don't care cause I'm a rebel bad boy whose actually a misunderstood good guy with a heart of gold" way; everyone walks in slow motion. They have parties, or one party when Lola's Mom (a desperate for a role Demi Moore; Mr. Brooks, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle) goes out of town for a weekend. They attend the Battle of the Bands, or A Band since we only see Chad's band(random Pretty Boy whose career will go no where except possibly rehab and a random Chris Brown assault charge) perform (badly), chat via Facebook, Twitter, and text about everything, and a quick, before you know it it's over like the rest of the pivotal moments in their lives trip to Paris all while navigating through the trials and tribulations of being a teenager (at least if your teen life is taken from any CW series of the last 16 years). Meanwhile, Lola's Mom has trials of her own juggling two men in her life; Lola's Dad (a tragically underused Thomas Jane; The Punisher, "Hung") and Hot Cop (a tragically underused Jay Hernandez; Hostel, crazy/beautiful). All while doing her best to be Best Friend Mom Laureli Gilmore style. That's the extent of her role. No character development, no point, one dimensional characters, and just an all around waste of time. Normally I can find something that I liked in a box office flop (I Know Who Killed Me was a good horror movie despite the nay sayers) but I'm at a loss on this one. I'm thinking all the five star reviews are from family and friends of the filmmakers and rabid Miley fans who think she can do no wrong. The only good things about this flick was the occasional decent song and a nice half shot of Ashley Green's rear end in her underwear. Avoid or, at best, wait for a free showing on tv. Even a $1 spent at a Red Box is over paying.
