From her middle name to her surprising list of previous jobs, here are 10 things that may not have known about Family Guy's Lois Griffin.
For over 20 years, Lois Griffin has been a recurrent figure on the FOX network. As the wife of Peter Griffin and mother of Chris, Meg and Stewie Griffin, Lois has been a reliable source of endless laughter in the animated series Family Guy. She is also one of the few characters to appear in every episode.
What makes Lois fun is that she isn't the ordinary sane American mom. She raises her kids to be radicals rather than normal disciplined citizens. She also confessed to being a recovering meth addict and kleptomaniac. Here are a couple of Lois facts that viewers might not be aware of.
Lois is a huge fan of the singer Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist in Season 5 of American Idol . This detail is first revealed in the fifth episode of Season 15 titled "Chris Has Got a Date, Date, Date, Date, Date."
And in Season 17's second episode titled "Dead Dog Walking", her Instagram account is shown briefly. Her handle is 'DaughtryMom.' Given the huge love, its surprising that an animated version of the singer hasn't made an appearance on the show yet.
In Season 11's fourteenth episode titled "Call Girl," Lois visits and employment agency to seek a job. She then asks a fellow applicant to take a look at her resume and see if it's perfect. Through the details in her resume, it can be seen that her middle name is "Patrice."
However, in Season 18's sixth episode titled "Peter & Lois' Wedding," her middle name in the wedding documents is seen as Common-Denominator.' The exact meaning of that name hasn't been revealed in the show yet though fan theories suggest that Lois Common-Denominator is a smart take on 'Lowest Common-Denominator."
Lois might seem nice but she has an evil element in her too. In Season 18's twelfth episode titled "Undergrounded," a flashback scene is shown where Lois she kills a waitress during her honeymoon with Peter to prove her love for him.
And in Season 16's tenth episode titled "Boy (Dog) Meets Girl (Dog)," Chris reveals that Lois told him she once killed a jaywalker. The exact reason for this gruesome act is not revealed.
Apart from English, Lois speaks the fictional language of Klingon . The language was first used in the 1979 movie Star Trek: The Motion Picture . It was later used in a couple of other films in the universe.
In the Season 18 episode titled "Undergrounded" Lois states that she speaks Klingon because the women at the nail salon she goes to are Klingon. Since they love gossiping, she wanted to know if they were talking about her. She thus made an effort to learn Klingon. In Season 9's "Baby, You Knock Me Out" Lois also spoke Ukrainian.
Lois has a hilarious yet cool voice and viewers might be wondering what was the inspiration behind it. Apparently, Lois' voice actor Alex Borstein modeled the voice from the way one of her cousins speaks .
Alex was doing stage shows in Los Angeles when she was approached by series creator Seth MacFarlane to voice Lois. After thinking hard about the best way to make Lois unique, she figured she should speak like her cousin. And that's how Loi's voice ended up becoming iconic.
The last reported age of Lois was 43. This was mentioned in Season 11's seventeenth episode titled "Bigfat." Even though she celebrated her birthday in the Season 17 episode "Regarding Carter." her current age wasn't mentioned.
In Season 2's fourteenth episode titled "Let's Go To The Hope," it was revealed that Lois was two years younger than her husband Peter. Her romantic escapades don't end there. In Season 5's thirteenth episode titled "Bill and Peter's Bogus Journey", Lois has an affair with former US President Bill Clinton. Peter learns about the affair so Lois also offers him the chance to sleep with someone too. He decides not to do so and forgives her.
Lois has had eight children in total. To name them all, there is Chris, Meg, Stewie, Dave Griffin, Peter Griffin Jr., Stewie's Funny Brother as well as the unnamed siblings simply mentioned as Other brother and Other sister.
Lois also had a stillborn infant. Peter once mentions that Lois miscarried too when they toured the museum of staircases. In Season 8's "Partial Terms of Endearment", Lois also had an abortion. After that, she stated that she was pro-choice.
Lois has been a housewife for most of her life. In Season 11's fourth episode titled "Yug Ylimaf, " it was stated that she was once a piano teacher. In Season 7's "FOX-y Lady", she briefly worked as a reporter for the Fox News Channel. And in "Call Girl" she gets a job as a phone sex operator.
And in the Season 4 episode "Stewie B. Goode" Lois reminisces her former career as a professional swimmer. Apparently, she was chosen to be part of America's Olympic diving team, but she had to drop out after getting pregnant with Meg.
