Lithuanian farmers protested and distributed free milk
Dairy sector workers gathered outside the Lithuanian Parliament today. During the campaign, they distributed free milk to residents to symbolically show how little milk producers earn.
"Lithuanian farmers today receive the least for milk in the EU. They also receive the smallest payouts. This year alone, 1,777 farms have closed, leaving only about 7,400 small farms.",
– Jonas Vilenis, chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Milk Producers Association, complains.
