Lisbon airport travel guide

There are three modes of transport from Lisbon Airport (LIS), which has the official name Humberto Delgado, to the city centre: lisbon airport taxi, metro and bus. Lisbon airport taxis are the most convenient option for your transportation. With the cost of the trip being 20€, it will take you about 20 minutes to reach your destination. A more economical alternative is the bus. Its ticket costs just 4€ and the journey takes around 45 minutes to the heart of the city. The cheapest option is the metro, however the airport line will not take you directly to the city. However, its ticket costs just 1.45€ and the journey takes 35 minutes.

Where to stay

The main coastal towns in the Algarve region are Faro (which has an airport), Lagos, Portimao, Albufeira and Sagres. After a lot of research and contacting some locals we chose Lagos for the following reasons: Firstly because it is the most picturesque settlement compared to the others. Second because it is not so touristy and third because most of what we wanted to see and do is close to it. And as it turned out we made the best choice!

What to see

Lagos is a beautiful city that reminded us quite a bit of a Greek island's Chora! The historic centre in particular is worth a walk and stands out for its pebbled floor and surrounding walls. White houses with small balconies, picturesque alleys, hospitable people create an idyllic holiday setting! Spend the first day exploring the town and the surrounding area.
