L'intervista a Margaret Weis!
I: A "Barside Chat", oggi abbiamo un'ospite speciale: Margaret Weis!
Margaret, benvenuta nello show!
M: Grazie mille!
(Domanda): Caramon usa Visa o American Express?
E io: "Quale?!"
"Sai, proprio alla fine del libro..."
"Ok, va bene, qual è questo potere?" E Tracy dice: "Caramon usa sempre American Express!"
[Risate]
I: Fantastico!
[Risate]
"Wow! Hai ragione!"
E così, Tanis per me è diventato James Kirk: semplicissimo!
M: No, solo, uhm, saluto tutti i nostri ascoltatori... e vi ringrazio per l'interesse e l'affetto... e grazie a tutti voi!

A 3-minute excerpt from the one-hour interview with Margaret Weis! 🙂
I: To "Barside Chat", today we have a special guest: it is Margaret Weis!
Margaret, welcome to the show!
M: Thank you so much!
(Question): What was the moment like when Margaret became a New York Best Seller?
M: It was unbelievable... I was home, I was fixing dinner for my kids, and Dean called me and said: "We just got noticed that your book is in the New York Times list, is going to be because we would get advanced notice!", and I was just stunned...
I mean, I was really really just done my breath, you know, this is something every writer dreams of, and never thinks it's going to happen, and [instead] it happens!
(Question): Doesn't everyone know what a draconian looks like?
M: [...] Generally, he'll come back and he'll say: "No, I really think this doesn't work, this, uh, you need to..."
He's always telling me I need to show something more rather than telling it, and I need to describe things more...
I'm terrible on description... I'm just I'm working way too fast and, oh hell, everybody knows what a draconian looks like... So I just, you know, go right through it!
(Question): Does Caramon use Visa or American Express?
M: I'm taking notes and he [Tracy] goes and: "You know, Caramon has a power that not many people know about!" And I'm like: "What?!"
"You know, just the end of the book"...
"Okay, fine, what is this power?" And Tracy said: "Caramon always uses American Express!"
[Laughter]
I: That's fantastic!
You gotta have a sense of humor, I'm sure, in such deadlines!
(Question): We can thank Disney for this popular Weis & Hickman series [of novels]...
M: And I was so excited by this that I left my kids on the ride, and I went out through an emergency exit, and set up an alarm and found the nearest payphone, because, again, no cellphone... uhm... And I called Tracy and told him, and he was so excited he started designing the worlds, right practically that second!
(Question): Where else would Margaret like to explore in Krynn?
M: They say we didn't know that the island where the Minotaurs lived that would have been really cool... Uhm... And, of course, you know, Mount Nevermind was always fun... Uhm... I don't think we got to go to Hylo, to see where the kender live...
(Question): Raistlin or Fistandantilus? That is the question. [The question is about who won between the two in the fight narrated at the beginning of "War of the Twins"]
M: Yeah, I always had the feeling that Raistlin came out the winner, but I just never know for sure... And of course it would really bother Raistlin, and you know, we are... we are writing more in the Dragonlance world... It's just, I can't talk about them.
(Question): Captain Kirk? Tanis? What?
M: It's something like, uhm, you know, there's the story I didn't really know...
Tanis, at the beginning, I was having a real hard time getting to know him like I knew Raistlin, and all he [Tracy] said: "It's easy: he's James Kirk of the starship Enterprise!" [Laughter]
"Wow! You're right!"
And so, Tanis for me became James Kirk very easy!
I: Oh my gosh, that's...!
I: Uh, is there anything that you would like to share with us before we sign off?
M: No, just, uhm, say hi to everybody out there... and thank you for the interest and love... and I appreciate all of you!
