You can't look at this movie as the next "Citizen Kane." Sure, it's low budget. Yes, it doesn't take itself seriously. True, the performances weren't "Oscar worthy" (many scenes look like they were shot in one or two takes). But all of these things are part of the movie's charm. In fact, I wasn't expecting to like this movie as much as I did. It has a slew of offbeat, eccentric characters, including: the "cult film goddess" Bouvier (the club's owner), a girl on skid row, an old dude on all fours getting whipped by a dominatrix, a hyper fire-and- brimstone preacher, a transvestite discoursing with a puppet/Muppet (it's random, but it works), a detective and a crime photographer that look like they were pulled out of a 40s film noir, and a plethora of hot girls in lingerie (one of my favorites--played by Sydney Raye-- has a tantalizing strip tease to make her abusive boyfriend jealous). I was surprised that the "lingerie girls" had so much natural charisma on screen and were decent actresses. Yes, it's a "murder- mystery," but it's actually a laugh-out-loud comedy that's a nod to the sleazy "sexploitation" films of the 60s and 70s. It's a throwback to the type of movies that John Waters shot with Divine before he went "mainstream" (what he affectionately called his "Trash Trilogy"). It's not meant to be taken as a "serious, highbrow, big-budget movie." It's campy, exaggerated, fun, and outrageous. I thought it was a hoot!

Everything I’ve gotten has been high quality and well fitting. This is the second time I’ve had the lingerie box subscription and I loved it then too. I only canceled it back then because I became pregnant and nothing was fitting and my size did end up changing after my second child.
The bra and panty set was beautiful. I wear my sets on a daily basis and would highly recommend this subscription to anyone

I love how soft the lace is. I could immediately tell it's a much higher quality that what I received from a different monthly lingerie box. And the bra fit better than bras I've purchased after trying them on in store! I wasn't immediately a fan of the color but it's grown on me. I loved that venue, first discovered it for a post show party after the Rocky Horror Picture Show live stage production down the street at the Aquarius Theatre. Later on I saw many a great concert there, everything from Berlin to Cindy Alexander.
I was a security guard there for a year in 1984 , I had a wife and a two year old so I had to sell cocaine to the beautiful people at the club lingerie to make ends meet.it was an exciting musical venue, 1984 what a different time. M.j.b.

My name is Dennis…worked the door with Big Charlie as my backup and Melvis worked the register. I came to The Lingerie from The Whisky in ’84. Gorgeous girls, great bands, and always a party. Never a dull moment. Those were the daze!
I loved this place. Saw the Minutemen there, Dream Syndicate, Rank N File, Dwight Yoakum, Social Distortion … I liked it much more than The Whiskey. Only place that compared was Al’s Bar, but that was place a different vibe. And an airplane sticking out the side of the front too.
Great place to dance and meet chicks! One of my favorite memories of the early 80’s. Saw an awesome band there that played a lot like the ‘Busboys’ if it wasn’t them. Great time!! Lots going on in those days.
