She once had it all but has been on a downward spiral for years.
And Lindsay Lohan's new movie appears to be a case of art imitating life.
In a new trailer for the grindhouse-style film, the 27-year-old's picture perfect life starts to unravel amid the greed and loose morals of young Hollywood .

The film - written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader - stars Lindsay as Tara who 'sold her pride for material comfort', alongside porn star James Deen.
The trailer opens with derelict movie theatres and Lindsay's voiceover stating, 'So tell me something: Do you really like movies? Like really really like movies?
'When was the last time you went to see a movie in a theatre? A movie that you really thought meant something to you?'
The camera then cuts to Lindsay speaking across the table at someone. 'I don't know,' she says. 'I guess maybe it's just not my thing anymore.'

Lindsay is then seen undressing before scenes flash by of porn stars, Hollywood bigwigs and luxurious houses.
The words 'Visit a place where you have nothing to lose but yourself,' appear on-screen.
'I guess I'd like to keep some parts of my life private,' Lindsay says as she sits on a bed.
'Nobody has a private life anymore, Tara,' replies a character.

Set in Los Angeles, the story centres on the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their twenties.
'One chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence,' reads the press release.

The Canyons, largely funded by a Kickstarter campaign, marks a change of direction for the Disney child star who appears fully nude in the movie.
It seems the Freaky Friday star is thrilled with the results however as the latest update on the official Facebook page read: 'Showed LL the film tonight. She saw and she understood. What a wonderful moment for her.
'Some tears, some hard words, some kisses but that’s life in Lindsayland. Sometimes the movie gods smile. Sometimes you get lucky. LL and I got lucky.'

And while Lindsay is seemingly never out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons, Schrader - best known for his screenplays for Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and Raging Bull - also had nothing by praise for the Mean Girls star.
'Lindsay Lohan is a huge fan of Hollywood glamour and performances from the Golden Era.
'Working with her every day on varied scenes I've been making a mental checklist of classic movie performances she's touched upon,' he wrote on his Facebook page.
'There's has been a lot of Ann Margaret, some Gena Rowlands and Faye Dunaway and of course some bits of Liz Taylor and Monroe as well as a little Rita Hayworth and even Gene Tierney (although the last may be more my creation than hers).
'Oh yeah, and Angie Dickinson. And Lee Remick. And Shelley Winters…'

With her friends at a Beverly Hills Hotel, Lindsay Lohan wrote down a list of the 36 people she’s had sex with and then talked s**t about them. She even had to pause to remind herself of who they were.
