She once had it all but has been on a downward spiral for years.
And Lindsay Lohan's new movie appears to be a case of art imitating life.
In a new trailer for the grindhouse-style film, the 27-year-old's picture perfect life starts to unravel amid the greed and loose morals of young Hollywood .

The film - written by Bret Easton Ellis and directed by Paul Schrader - stars Lindsay as Tara who 'sold her pride for material comfort', alongside porn star James Deen.
The trailer opens with derelict movie theatres and Lindsay's voiceover stating, 'So tell me something: Do you really like movies? Like really really like movies?
'When was the last time you went to see a movie in a theatre? A movie that you really thought meant something to you?'
The camera then cuts to Lindsay speaking across the table at someone. 'I don't know,' she says. 'I guess maybe it's just not my thing anymore.'

Lindsay is then seen undressing before scenes flash by of porn stars, Hollywood bigwigs and luxurious houses.
The words 'Visit a place where you have nothing to lose but yourself,' appear on-screen.
'I guess I'd like to keep some parts of my life private,' Lindsay says as she sits on a bed.
'Nobody has a private life anymore, Tara,' replies a character.

Lindsay's character Tara is described as 'sweet as sin' while X-rated film star Deen is rather cheekily described as a 'huge new talent' and 'the boy next door gone bad.'
Set in Los Angeles, the story centres on the dangers of sexual obsession and ambition, both personally and professionally, among a group of young people in their twenties.
'One chance meeting connected to the past unravels all of their lives, resulting in deceit, paranoia, cruel mind games and ultimately violence,' reads the press release.

The Canyons, largely funded by a Kickstarter campaign, marks a change of direction for the Disney child star who appears fully nude in the movie.
It seems the Freaky Friday star is thrilled with the results however as the latest update on the official Facebook page read: 'Showed LL the film tonight. She saw and she understood. What a wonderful moment for her.
'Some tears, some hard words, some kisses but that’s life in Lindsayland. Sometimes the movie gods smile. Sometimes you get lucky. LL and I got lucky.'

And while Lindsay is seemingly never out of the headlines for all the wrong reasons, Schrader - best known for his screenplays for Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and Raging Bull - also had nothing by praise for the Mean Girls star.
'Lindsay Lohan is a huge fan of Hollywood glamour and performances from the Golden Era.
'Working with her every day on varied scenes I've been making a mental checklist of classic movie performances she's touched upon,' he wrote on his Facebook page.
'There's has been a lot of Ann Margaret, some Gena Rowlands and Faye Dunaway and of course some bits of Liz Taylor and Monroe as well as a little Rita Hayworth and even Gene Tierney (although the last may be more my creation than hers).
'Oh yeah, and Angie Dickinson. And Lee Remick. And Shelley Winters…'

Lindsay Lohan has enjoyed many high-profile relationships over the years, with the wildly varied likes of Aaron Carter, "That '70s Show" star Wilmer Valderrama , and, er, Mohammad bin Salman whom she was rumored to be dating in 2019 (via Us Weekly ). 
Despite being linked to the controversial crown prince of Saudi Arabia, arguably the most shocking dalliance the "Parent Trap" breakout had was with British DJ Samantha Ronson. The two were dating from 2008 to 2009. 
Lohan has since downplayed their tumultuous relationship, much of which played out in the public eye, including notably telling Howard Stern, in 2018, "We were friends more than anything." At the time, Lohan was defending one of the stars of short-lived reality gem "Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club," who had recently come out as bisexual. She also encouraged a fan to come out to her parents and live her truth in 2021 (via Twitter ). This leaves many fans asking: How does Lohan identify herself? 
Lindsay Lohan's relationship with Samantha Ronson caused widespread outrage, which is quite shocking in retrospect. The actress came under intense pressure to explain her supposed sudden change in sexual orientation. While chatting to Harpers Bazaar in 2008, Lohan confirmed she wasn't a lesbian. However, when questioned about whether she could be bisexual, the "Mean Girls" star shrugged, "Maybe. Yeah," quickly adding, "I don't want to classify myself."
Lohan confessed to Us Weekly in 2013 that it was tough withstanding the intense press intrusion at the time, arguing, "I was bold enough to say, 'Yeah, I like a girl. And?' That put [Ronson] in a situation where she was being attacked every day." 
As Lohan put it, the scrutiny meant the relationship was doomed to fail. The star also acknowledged she needed to work on herself before being with anybody else. Just a year later, the actress changed her tune, telling Piers Morgan during an appearance on his show, "I know I'm straight. I have made out with girls before, and I had a relationship with a girl. But I think I needed to experience that and I think I was looking for something different," per Daily Mail .
