Life is Strange: True Colors is the newest entry into the LiS franchise and players are hoping for the unlikely return of fan favorites Max and Chloe.
Life is Strange: True Colors is the upcoming installment in the fan-favorite Life is Strange franchise. It will feature Alex Chen as the main protagonist with the ability to sense and even take on other people’s emotions. This will be the first game in a while where players will actually play the person with the powers. Life is Strange: True Colors will also connect to the Life is Strange prequel, Before the Storm , by bringing back Steph Gingrich as a friend and love interest for Alex.
With Steph returning to the new Life is Strange game, it’s natural for players to possibly anticipate other cameos in the quiet mountain town of Haven Springs. It wouldn’t be the first time Life is Strange has incorporated previous characters into newer games, either, as Chloe’s stepfather, David, makes an appearance in Life is Strange 2 . The Life is Strange: True Colors “Wavelengths” DLC where players take on the role of Steph also teases a cameo from a previous game. With all this in mind, though, the chances of an appearance of Max or Chloe are incredibly slim for a few reasons.
Fans of the Life is Strange series can hardly forget one of the biggest choices they made in the first game: to save Arcadia Bay or to save Chloe. Obviously, players will have chosen different endings based on their playstyle and how they wanted the plot to unfold. It also means that there’s no “canon” ending for the game because players would have made very different choices at that moment. In one choice, Chloe dies, and in the other, almost everyone in Arcadia Bay dies from the storm, but Chloe and Max survive and leave town.
Interestingly enough, this choice does have a little impact on Life is Strange 2 , as players can enter into the game if they saved Chloe or Arcadia Bay. Life is Strange 2 will then show Arcadia Bay fully intact or the remains of what was once the town. Chloe’s stepfather, David, will be in the game either way because he left town before the storm , but certain behaviors of his change depending on what ending players chose in Life is Strange . He still gets divorced from Joyce, though the circumstances differ depending on if Chloe is alive or not. David’s cameo may not seem like a big deal, but it demonstrates how all the Life is Strange games exist in the same universe and how they can influence each other.
It was easy for the developer to say that someone like David, who was already on the outs with a lot of people in Arcadia Bay, left town prior to the storm hitting . It’s a lot harder to explain how Max and Chloe, namely the latter, could appear in Haven Springs. The developer could potentially use a system similar to Life is Strange 2 and have players say whether they saved Chloe or the town, but it sounds a bit more cumbersome than necessary.
Additionally, it would be a lot of work to render and insert Chloe and Max into the game when only some players chose to save Chloe instead of Arcadia Bay. At the same time, it also wouldn’t be fair for players who chose to save the town to miss out on seeing Max and Chloe again. If anything, Max survives at the end of Life is Strange no matter what choice is made, so if either of the two were to make an appearance, Max has a slightly better chance than Chloe.
Max and Chloe are beloved characters in the Life is Strange franchise, so it’s natural for players to want to interact with them again. However, the chance of the two of them appearing in Life is Strange: True Colors are incredibly slim. Players can hold out hope, but it may be more beneficial to look forward to Steph instead , the actual character who’s confirmed to return.
Life is Strange: True Colors releases September 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Motel breakdowns and trauma sifting. Post-cannon fic in which Max chooses to sacrifice Arcadia and leave with Chloe; obviously they all have a lot of stuff to death with due to that, and you can assume most if not all of the other characters were killed by the storm, since they won’t feature here other than mentions regarding past events.

Chloe was wearing her grey Arcadia Bay sweater today. Max thought it was fitting. To her, Chloe was Arcadia Bay. Everything she loved about it, at least.
The beach in the summer, the waves crashing on the shore, that was her and Chloe building sandcastles and daring one another to wade in deeper into the water. The old boardwalk along the coast, that was her and Chloe pointing out fishing ships that were leaving the bay, Chloe throwing out names for their own pirate ship they’d have some day. The lighthouse on the overpast, that was Chloe getting them lost on the hiking trail in the woods and swearing that they’d survive the night because she would protect the both of them.
Every inch of Arcadia Bay was explored territory, and every inch had been explored with and reminded her of Chloe. Arcadia Bay was Chloe, it reflected in her sandy blonde hair and bay blue eyes. She was worth all of Arcadia to Max.
“You gonna invite her inside, Chlo?” William asked.
Chloe rolled her eyes at that and grabbed Max by the wrist to pull her inside the house. “C’mon, goober.”
[Continuing the ending of Amphibia] The trio are back and complete. With after 10 years not being complete, the three have met as adults. Were there things they need to pick up with each other after 10 years? Marcy becoming a web comic artist. Sasha becoming a kids psychiatrist. Anne being a herpetologist and now taking care of her family business as Mr and Mrs B took their breaks. Are there anything they need to talk about once again? Something they left undiscussed for a decade.

Recent rumors and evidence seem to suggest that Life is Strange 4 could feature the much-demanded crossover from previous games.
Life is Strange has come a long way since it first came out in 2015. With multiple successful entries in the franchise, Life is Strange has established a dedicated community of fans that actively discuss the many characters of this heart-warming universe, as well as its future.
Thankfully, Life is Strange fans have a lot to look forward to this year. The next main entry in the franchise, Life is Strange: True Colors , is all set to release this year, alongside a remastered version of the first Life is Strange and its prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm . Interestingly, the way these upcoming titles are being marketed, alongside plenty of other rumors and leaks, suggests that Life is Strange 4 could feature the protagonists of previous Life is Strange games .
The beloved protagonists of Life is Strange and Life is Strange: Before the Storm , Max and Chloe, are long rumored to return for a future entry. The speculation for the same began when ResetEra user bing posted tidbits about Life is Strange: True Colors , and an alleged Life is Strange 4 that is currently in pre-production . According to bing, Life is Strange 4 , if it exists, involves Max and Chloe in some ways.
Conversations quickly sparked over various social media platforms whether Max and Chloe deserve a proper sequel since by doing so, the developers would be canonizing one of the two endings of the first Life is Strange game. Moreover, fans have also shown frustrations about the developers seemingly ditching Sean and Daniel from Life is Strange 2 for Max and Chloe, claiming that the former is more worthy of a sequel than the latter, which also has an ongoing comic series pushing their stories forward.
While all the rumors and speculations should be taken with a grain of salt, there are subtle references that suggest that Max and Chloe could indeed return in Life is Strange 4 . For starters, the Life is Strange: Remastered Collection is a good indication that Square Enix wants newcomers to familiarize themselves with the franchise while allowing long-term fans to relive the nostalgia through a modernized version of these games. Unfortunately, Life is Strange 2 isn't part of the collection, and there's a pretty good explanation for that.
