Isaac Price knew, halfway through last season, that it was time to leave Everton after 12 years. Price, then 19 years old, had returned from a productive two-game tour of Australia during the World Cup break with an endorsement from then manager Frank Lampard ringing in his ears. He had already featured twice for the first team, his debut coming at 18 in the FA Cup against non-League visitors Boreham Wood in March that year, but this felt like a chance to take the decisive next step. With options light in his preferred midfield role, in part due to team-mates being sidelined through injury, the path to senior minutes seemed to be clearing. Lampard, battling to save his job, opted for experience over youth. So, when he was left out of the matchday squad for an FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United last January, Price decided it was time for a change to accelerate his development. There was a time when promising Everton youngsters such as Price would often be convinced to stay around in the hope of eventually gaining their big break. Even five years ago, the common criticism of the youth setup was that they held on to players for too long, stockpiling talent they had little intention of using in the faint hope one of them made the grade. But the landscape seems to have fundamentally changed, in large part due to positive examples elsewhere. Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala , who were in the same England Unders training camp as Price before he switched his international allegiance to Northern Ireland, have shown the advantages of making bold decisions at an early stage. Price, in turn, joined Belgian side Standard Liege last summer. I played with and against Jude Bellingham and Jamal Musiala. But when he goes from Birmingham to Dortmund and tears it up, you as a peer want to show your quality somewhere, too. I was nervous at first — being in front of Carlo was more pressure — but you settle pretty quickly. Six months on, Price feels his calculated gamble has paid off, despite head coach Carl Hoefkens losing his job in late December with Standard ninth in the team Belgian Pro League. With 20 league and cup appearances, including 11 starts, he has become a regular in the line-up. Club progress has been mirrored on the international stage, with the midfielder now making his mark with Northern Ireland. But the highlight to date came two months later, when his opening goal helped Northern Ireland to a home win against Denmark , semi-finalists at the previous European Championship three years ago, in Euro qualifying. I settled in quite fast. The teams placed First to sixth play football and, after that, there are teams that make the game horrible and tough. Some are really good players, but you need to face that physicality to be able to go into the first team. We could take our time and absorb every moment while walking through time enjoying most if not all of Monet's artwork. The garden opened our eyes to what he was seeing while painting; it was so beautiful! The VR experience was the high point of the exhibit and brought the experience together. We took all of our employees to Monet after our Christmas office luncheon. The experience was amazing and the staff was professional. Ray in Belfast was very accommodating to our large group and even met us at the end of the experience to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. What a beautiful time! I took my daughter and granddaughter and it was so wonderful to share the experience with three generations of my family! It was a very moving and emotional experience. Very well done!
