Campo Alegre Compression Sports Top

For the first time in my life, I went out on the beach and felt like ME. Happy, confident, beautiful me.

There's something about wearing clothes designed for you and without gendered expectations that feels liberating.

I feel really uncomfortable in swimwear especially since my bust size means I usually need to buy a swimsuit with built-in bras. This is the first time I've really felt like me in a two piece swimswuit.

Everyone deserves a suit they feel confident in!
If you’re trans , non-binary , or gender nonconforming , swimwear shopping can be an unpleasant and stressful experience. Frustratingly (yet unsurprisingly), not many brands take different body types and inclusive sizing into consideration. Since summer is quickly approaching and the possibility of a beach trip or pool day doesn’t seem quite so farfetched anymore, you might be in the mood to browse for some suits that are cute but also make you feel like your most comfortable, confident self. Here, we’ve rounded up seven gender-neutral swimwear brands that offer designs with features like chest binders, extended sizing, extra coverage, and more.
From TomboyX’s matching sets and bold patterns to Chromat’s size range that goes up to 4X (!!!), you’ll find something new to wear that’ll hopefully make the whole process easier.
Athleta is a go-to for scoop-neck and midkini swim tops that offer a lil coverage and compression for all bodies. We love their amazing designs, too; how cool is this cloud camo print? But the best part is that these suits the freedom to move your body the way you want.
Rave Review: "I love this top," writes one reviewer. "I was looking for something that fit like a sports bra and I finally found it! For someone who gets way too much sun I love the chest coverage and the back is perfect, it doesn't dig into your skin."
Humankind's suits are constructed from quick-dry, supportive, and ultra soft fabric. This top comes in four mellow hues that mix and match perfectly with the brand's patterned swim trunks .
Rave Review: "I was nervous when I bought this swim top," comments one reviewer. "I wanted it to fit but I also wanted to feel comfortable wearing it. When my package came in I tried it on right away and I had straight gender euphoria! Not only does it fit me true to size. (I'm a size 36c and order a Large) but I felt comfortable in it. I didn't feel too girly (especially with the back) and I also felt like my lady bits are supported. There is no padding just as an FYI but that doesn't bother me. No more having to wear a sports bra to the pool. I highly recommend."
Designer Becca McCharen-Tran started the brand in 2010 to celebrate all body types. I mean, have you seen her runway shows? She truly delivers on that message. Her statement pieces are inspired by her architecture background, and they are made sustainably using recycled nylon from old fishing nets and plastic water bottles.
TomboyX’s founders, Fran Dunaway and Naomi Gonzalez, started the brand out of their garage and made what they wanted to wear. The swimwear has tons of prints and colors, most often with a bold logo waistband.
Rave Review: "Awesome quality," according to customer who's loving these "super soft and comfortable" swim trunks: "Feels just the right kind of sexy for my non-binary self! "
Inspired by swimwear from the ’20s, this label nails the onesie style, and the sizes range from XS to 5X. It even has a special design made for longer torsos, and everything is produced in small batches locally in Portland, Oregon.
Although Rielli doesn’t tout itself specifically as a gender-neutral swim brand, its smocked, stretchy fabrics are designed with comfort in mind. It also features shorts and skirts that you can wear in or out of the water.
This brand offers both athletic wear and swimwear; the latter category features full-coverage tops with low or high compression, board shorts, rash guards, and brief-style bikini bottoms in contrasting, bold colors.
