I met my first love Peter straight after high school at a friend's 18th birthday party.
Not having much experience with boys I was very shy at first, but Peter was very chatty and charismatic which made it easy for me to talk and connect with him.
That night I chatted to him for hours and afterwards cursed myself for not being brave enough to ask for his phone number. I wasn't very confident and assumed he was just being friendly and wouldn't want to see me again. But, to my surprise, I received a call from him the next day.
He had rung around a few people who had been at the party until reaching my best friend, Melissa, who promptly provided him with my digits. I had never had a boyfriend before but Peter was everything I expected one to be like.
At the time, he was 22 and older than me. He had a full-time job as an apprentice electrician. Peter had the cutest cheeky smile that he would flash whenever he wanted something and I fell in love with him within weeks of meeting him. I remember at the time thinking he was perfect 'husband material' .
He was tall, muscular, good-looking and I got along well with his family. Peter had even confided in me that he wanted to buy us a house once he became fully qualified.

Peter and I dated for three years while I studied at university. Our relationship wasn't as physical or affectionate as I wished but not having anyone else to compare him to I never brought it up.
Peter was your typical 'blokey tradie', and while he was chivalrous in that he always paid for our meals and always looked out for me, driving me to parties and picking me up to make sure I was safe, he was never very affectionate and our love making was always short and to the point.
We were married shortly after I finished my course. At dinner after my graduation ceremony he proposed to me in front of all my family and friends. My parents were thrilled and I was so excited. After our beautiful wedding and honeymoon we bought a house and started our new lives together.
Shortly after our honeymoon Peter's younger sister Katie came to stay with us. Katie was the same age as me but had been studying in Sydney for the last few years and I had only met her a couple of times.
She had moved back home to start searching for a job and Peter was happy to let her bunk with us.

Katie certainly came from the same gene pool as Peter. She had a stunning physique with beautiful big blue eyes and she had the same charming, confident manner. I was nervous about her staying with us at first but soon found that we had a lot in common. We would sit up late and watch DVDs together while Peter, tired from a long day's work, would go to bed early.
It was on one of these late nights that I asked her if she was seeing any guys or if she had left a boyfriend in Sydney. She was so gorgeous I couldn't believe that I had never heard Peter or his family mention a boyfriend.
She laughed and said that her family had always been awkward about this and liked to pretend it wasn't true.
I looked at her quizzically, not understanding. Katie laughed and said she was a lesbian and that her family weren't very accepting of lesbian love so they never talked about.
I was surprised at first; I hadn't picked it up at all.
Weeks went by before the topic was brought up again. I was sitting with Katie on the couch when she asked me if I had ever been with a woman. I confessed that I had only ever been with Peter.
I'd never even thought of being an unfaithful wife . She told me she was surprised and that she thought I was very pretty.
Was she trying to hit on me? Would she try something? But then I started to get excited and decided that I wasn't afraid. Before I knew it, Katie and I were kissing.

She was so soft and affectionate, it was something I had never experienced before. It wasn't long before we were in her bedroom.
Later on, I snuck back into my and Peter's room. Surprisingly, I didn't feel guilty at all!
Katie had given me something that Peter never could and what he didn't know couldn't hurt him. Katie ended up only staying with us for another week. She got a job a few suburbs away and moved into a share house with a friend.
We never did anything like that ever again but she always gives me a cheeky smile or wink across the table at family dinners.
Nobody else knows I cheated on my husband, let alone it was a secret lesbian affair.

Directed by French travel writer Dai Sijie and produced by Luc Besson , The Chinese Botanist’s Daughters explores women’s struggles against patriarchy and gender discrimination. Though this is a French-funded film, it still features beautifully stunning typically Chinese landscapes, all recreated by the director in Vietnam. It tells the story of an orphan, Li Ming, who comes to a little island and learns how to plant herbs from a botanist. Yet, she secretly has an unspoken relationship with his daughter, a forbidden love in that era. Their relationship is ultimately crushed under the power of patriarchy.

Directed by Alice Wu, this comedy tells the story of a girl raised in a traditional Chinese family. Her biggest problem? Keeping up with the traditional value of family honor, known as “saving face.” First and foremost, she has to keep her relationship with her girlfriend a secret. In addition, she has to find a husband for her mother, who is kicked out of her family when she becomes pregnant. This film explores not only the lesbian relationship but also the warming relationship between mother and daughter as they struggle together against the chains of traditional Chinese value – saving face.

However, when she decides to hold her hand s , the Japanese air force is approaching…

Candy Rain is a movie that comprises four short stories depicting lesbian love. They are refreshing and with a bit of melancholy in the mix. The four stories involve four different couples living in the same apartment building in Taipei. All of them receive an anonymous package, which is originally for a person named Candy Rain. This is Taiwanese director Chen Hung Yi first lesbian film, and he successfully portrayed the beautiful but painful nuanced moments in these women’s relationships. 
Leading Ladies reflects how guilt affects us in different ways based on our perspective or memories. A welcome dinner is the excuse to discover that we always keep a secret from who know us the best.

Mothers and daughters often have an unbreakable bond - but for some it's MUCH closer than others.
From dressing in identical clothes every day to getting matching plastic surgery, these mum and daughter duos are certainly extreme.
The new series of sMothered examines these super close relationships and all the quirks that come with them.
Marcia, 68, and her 21-year-old daughter, Alena, who says her mum is "definitely my best friend", have a very bizarre routine each morning.
The pair already make sure they do absolutely everything together and that starts the moment they wake up.
"She kept pestering me for a puppy and I couldn’t get her a puppy, so I turned into the doggy. Alena tastes pretty good and all sweet, I just want to eat her all up."
And Alena, who was adopted by Marcia when she was just a toddler, says her mum's puppy antics make her feel closer to her.
The 21-year-old explained: "I love it when my Mamma licks me, it kind of makes me feel closer to her because we’re doing something funny and out of the ordinary. It’s a thing we do every single day."
Licking isn't the only unusual part of the pair's morning routine - when she's finally out of bed Alena playfully chases her mother around the house.
Marcia said: "When Alena was very little she didn’t have much stamina, so I would say ‘you can’t get me, you can’t get me'."
Alena suffers from an enzyme deficiency and the chasing started as a way of increasing her stamina and encouraging growth when she was a child.
But the routine has stuck and the pair continue to chase each other regularly.
Marcia explained: "It was really a good thing to help her grow and it just continued."
Once Alena eventually catches her mum, it’s her turn to play puppy.
She said: "When I catch my Mamma I do all my kissy-poos and I kiss her all up. She’s very kissable."
Marcia recognises that her relationship with her daughter may seem odd to some people - but nothing will stop her being so close to her daughter.
She said: "Some people don’t agree or they wonder what is wrong with her. I love the idea as she’s growing up of being able to do all those silly things.
"It’s getting a little tricky as she’s getting older, but still do all the same antics and we still play the same games and we have fun."
Another new mother and daughter who have a particularly unusual way of starting the day, are 55-year-old Mary and 19-year-old Brittani.
They start each day by by taking a shower together.
Stripped fully naked, the pair share their walk-in shower together and mum Mary even helps wash her daughter, lathering her up and getting her ready for the day.
She said: "The best way to start our day is in the shower. I love her and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I have been helping Brittani takes showers since she was five - I’m just a doting mum.”
For Brittani, it’s the perfect way of spending time with her mum.
She said: "When my mum does simple things like washing my hair or washing my body, it makes me feel comforted."
