Lela is the leading female character in Wet Side Story. When Brady and Mack go into the movie, Lela accidentally falls in love with Brady, instead of Tanner, her original love interest. She is portrayed by Grace Phipps.
In Wet Side Story, Lela is a part of the biker group, "The Rodents". When Lela falls into surfer guy, Tanner's, arms she instantly falls in love with him. Due to them being apart of rival groups, Bikers and Surfers, they must keep their love a secret.
When Brady, who is a real person, is transported into Wet Side Story, Lela falls into his arms instead and instead falls in love with Brady rather than Tanner. To try to make the movie right again, Mack and Brady try to set her up with Tanner however, they ultimately fail and they are instead naturally brought together.
At the end of Teen Beach Movie, she, along with her brother and a few other bikers and surfers, gets trapped inside the real world.
In Teen Beach 2, Lela is one of the most important characters. She is the one that comes up with the idea of going to the "world" where Mack and Brady live: the future. She finds the necklace that Mack got from her, and tells everybody that it is a sign. She, along with Tanner, travel to the future and find Mack and Brady.
There, she is amazed by how much girl power there is in the future, she loves the food, and she even likes the learning in school. Mack and Brady start noticing that Lela starts becoming more modern, and start rushing to find a way to get them back to their world. Accidentally, they tell her and Tanner that they are characters from a movie, and she doesn't take it good.
Lela, now knowing that she is not real, refuses even more to leave and it gets harder for Mack and Brady to get them to the movie. Lela doesn't want to go for a lot of reasons, but the main one is because she doesn't want to live the same story over and over. Things get harder, however, when the characters start vanishing and disappearing, so Lela and Tanner are forced to leave. Mack tells Lela that she can change the movie and do whatever she wants. Lela and Mack say goodbye, and along with Tanner, they leave on Brady's new surfboard.
However, even if Lela and Tanner left in the right time, Brady and Mack forgot about each other. Lela, knowing this, makes the movie change to give them another chance of meeting, and it works. With the new movie, called "Lela, Queen of the Beach", it is all centered on Lela's life and her summer with her friends. At the end, Lela winks to Mack and Brady, as if she did all this to give them another chance.
By the end of the series, Lela has acquired extremely powerful abilities to alter the fabric of reality--appearing to be able to reshape both her own fictional world and the "real" world arbitrarily at her whim. There are no apparent limits to her power. Although it is unclear which religion, if any, is canon in this universe, it appears Lela has become a god of sorts.
Lela and Butchy are siblings. They barely interact onscreen, though they do enjoy spending quality time together. Their typical activities include hanging out at Big Momma's and rivaling against the surfers. Butchy is rather overprotective of Lela, but how she feels about him is never revealed.
