Legacy Speech and Debate Team State Qualifiers

Three members of the Legacy High School Speech and Debate Team have qualified for the UIL State Speech and Debate Tournament. The three qualifiers -- senior Amara Johnson in Lincoln-Douglas debate, junior Carlos Mendez in extemporaneous speaking, and sophomore Fatima Al-Rashid in original oratory -- each earned their state qualification at the regional tournament in Lubbock.

The Regional Tournament

The regional tournament produced the specific head-to-head competition that the UIL qualification process requires. Each of the three Legacy qualifiers won the specific rounds whose outcomes produced their state qualification.

The State Tournament

The UIL State Speech and Debate Tournament in Austin brings together the top competitive speech and debate students from across Texas. The Legacy Lamppost will cover the state tournament results. Go Leopards.
