Kiwoom's Lee Jung-hoo greets fans after coming in as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of the 2023 KBO League game between the Samsung Lions and the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheoks Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul, South Korea, on Tuesday afternoon.

Lee hasn't played since suffering an injury in an away game against the Lotte Giants at Sajik Stadium on July 22.

(SEOUL, Oct. 10 (Yonhap) - Lee Jung-hoo, 25, who will try out for Major League Baseball (MLB) after this season, made a surprise comeback three months after surgery and played in Kiwoom's final home game.

After suffering a mass on his left ankle on July 27, effectively ending his season prematurely, Lee has been rehabbing for more than two months and took the field in Kiwoom's final home game of the season to say goodbye to fans.

Before stepping up to the plate, Lee took off his helmet and politely greeted the crowd in the stands.

MLB San Francisco Giants general manager Pete Putteler, who was sitting in the center field seats to watch Lee, also stood up to welcome him with a round of applause.

Lee engaged in a 12-pitch battle with Samsung right-handed reliever Kim Tae-hoon. He hit a double to the top of the order, but it was just outside the foul line.

Eventually, Lee was caught on a grounder to third base after a defensive shift to right field. By running full speed to first base, Lee showed that her post-surgery rehabilitation is going well.

Lee also played defense in center field in the top of the ninth inning. He didn't handle any balls himself.

Kiwoom led 3-0 before giving up three runs in the top of the eighth inning with no outs on defense.

Samsung's Kim Ji-chan led off with an infield single off pitcher Moon Sung-hyun, and Kim Sung-yoon scored on an infield grounder and a throwing error by Kiwoom catcher Kim Dong-heon at third base to tie the game.

However, Kiwoom took the lead for good after a pitching change when Lim Ji-yeol hit a two-run arch over the left field fence with one out. The excitement generated by Lim's home run was soon followed by Lee Jung-hoo's arrival. 카지노사이트존
